The Georgetown Midget baseball crew played a series against the Brampton Midgets this past week and lack of batting punch caused them to drop both games Last Tuesday one inning spelled the difference as Brampton gathered in two runs In the third inning then held off for a 20 victory Paul Allison was charged with the Georgetown loss but pitched an excellent game Brampton chalked up seven hits three of them coming in the third inning Georgetown picked up six bits but they were scattered throughout the seven Innings On Sunday In Brampton the Georgetown squad were pounded for a 122 loss Infield errors coupled with a weak offensive effort caused the Midgets to drop this Mark was the losing pitcher for Georgetown He was relieved in the sixth Inning by Paul Allison The Georgetown Midgets were In he game until the sixth Inning trailing only 42 at that point but then Brampton poured across eight runs in a three- lnnlng span to salt sway the win The Midgets played host to Oakville on Tuesday op portunity to register with the recreation department of Hills Doug Colllson recreation director of Halton Hills ex plained to the general ad ministration committee Monday the benefits of registering with the merit If a club made a request via the recreation department for a grant to further their ac tivities the recreation department would then ap proach the town with the request Mr Colllson also pointed out that there would be an exchange of information between the group and the department This way the department could relate in formation to the general public By having the group registered it would give us Information concerning the Then If someone phones us requesting facts about a certain club we could help them We wouldnt be interfering with the organisation one bit stated Mr promises that the recreation department would try to leave groups as loose as possible But there still would have to be some guidelines The clubs wishing to register would have to follow a few guidelines as they must be a community non profit organization a financial statement must be presented to the recreation department which would be kept con fidential and the group must be willing to be open to the public When we say nonprofit organization we are not en couraging the groups to lose money Were Just saying that we wouldnt allow one dividual to make a profit from the club stated Is the fifth year that Beefeater has sponsored the tournament In operation with the Ontario Golf Association Simultaneously on the same date at the Country Club Ontario senior champions will compete for the Beefeater Senior Champion of Champions With less then onethird of the industrial Softball leagues season gone the Glen find themselves with a slim two- point margin over Club Billiards and Perks in the race for top spot in league standings with four points and Random House with three points close out the league standings As witnessed by the stan dings no club remains un defeated and only six points separate the number one club from the number five club As It stands at present each club in the league is scheduled to play IB games There is movement underway however to stretch this
