Hall is Hall and never the twain shall meet The answer to the question of whether or not there is a connecting link between the new housing development off Hall Road and Street may rest on the decision to rename the access road to be used by the new residents Monday s works committee was addressed by Barney managing director of the Toronto based con firm that has built the semidetached homes occupying land at the eastern edge of town Entrance to the houses Is only gained from Hall Road with a physical boundary of trees and median to further separate the bouses from the highway One concern Is the fact that labelling the street Guelph Street as proposed by cocmcJl will discourage buyers explained Mr Alper Everyone knows that Street Is Highway Seven Confusion could also exist If the houses were numbered with Street residential numbers with no Immediate access from Guelph Street for people attempting to locate the new addresses All deliveries must come from Hall Road proposal has been Banbury Lane Plans for the project were epproved by Hal ton Hills council the regional of and the Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation but it was still undecided by the works committee whether the plans turning circle or direct access to the nigh way at permitted a ti Collision on 7 First Aid competitions ARE GETTING READY for In teraatlonal Rescue and First Aid Association the Glllanders vehclle at tempted to avoid a collision with the unknown car The collision occurred Friday evening on Highway in front of the Market Centre A minor collision did less than damage to the cars involved Ross Yahlro and Judith Shrubsole both of Georgetown collided at the Intersection of Campbell Gate and Road A collision on private property did an estimated damage to the cars of Don Dodge and Conrad Parent of Georgetown The collision occurred at Mountalnview Road the end of the narrow roadway serving the homes I don agree with ch the name In fact I dont even know why we approved this project In the first place stated Councillor Era Hyde The houses are squashed In there enough At the time the project was proposed R A Winter con sultant for the firm was to have agreed to the Street name with two street signs to designate the section of road If that was the case I would not be here now replied Mr Alper Bob Austin engineer for the town of did not recall any regar ding a turning circle that would meet Halton rHHs road standards The circle must be M feet in radius to permit the removal of snow The town engineer Is now checking the plans filed to see whether or not the two Streets will actually meet Until such time as a final decision is made the builders will have to wait to name their street No trouble to get new telephone in Georgetown I am more happy to tell you J another D J In closing I would again remind you of the benefit dance in Acton folks According to Bill Barnes public affairs manager for Bell Canada homeowners in the Marywood Meadows sub division will not be faced with tefepbone hookup problems as did many residents in a new subdivision in Many the residents of the subdivision located on Orenda and Kennedy Road will have to wait months for their phone connections However Mr Barnes Hinted that Just because we had problems in does not mean we will have problems everywhere Mr Barnes explained that because the occupancy dale Tor the subdivision was uncertain there was a severe delay In phone con He further explained that whenever a subdivision is built Bell Canada automatically place heir lines in the ground Connecting the residential telephones to the ground lines are no problem but a delay often occurs in the hookup from the subdivision lines to the main line which serves the area Mr Barnes suggested that If homeowners Inform Bell Canada of a definite date of occupancy their telephone should be in service by the time the homeowners move in Mr Barnes reassured residents Meadows that As we see it today there will be no problems in the phono hook ups for that subdivision One more time for hall rental Hopefully the town general administration committee has dealt with the rental rates for the community hall at the Gordon Memorial Arena for the last time The committee three weeks ago approved a rccom mentation to be sent to council concerning the proposed rates as drafted by Pat facilities superintendent for Halton Hills However at the Ballinafad news Blue Mountain visit great trip last council meeting Coun Roy Booth requested hat the general ad ministration Itcc have another look at the rates When the rental rates ap peared on Monday night a general administration committee agenda Booth was not present to express his complaints of the proposed rates Thus the rates were not changed and will remain at per night rental fee with a liquor license and per night without a liquor license Mayor Tom Hill stated that bethought these rates were set too high for the facility I think the rates arc a little high for what the facility has to offer There isn even anything there to ball a kettle Mr Sheehan then went to explain that the recreation department would pay a supervisor a fee of lis a night whenever an would be using the facility This would Insure that no liquor laws arc being broken or that no vandalism occurs However Mayor Hill did not it necessary hire such supervision We don need supervision That a what the police are here for to supervise Councillor Morrow agreed with Mr have a million dollar facility sitting there and I think It would be a good investment to have a supervisor for a night to make sure everything la going the way it should be Despite Mayor Hilt protests the committee decided to leave the rates as they were set before They will now once again be presented to town council By Winifred Smith David and Robert Pearson Cf John and Beth Pearson of Tarn spent last week with their grandparents Mr and Mrs Jesse McEnery Stiles on
