councils passed away Monday afternoon Councillor Coxe died of a severe heart attack Monday in the Intensive care unit of Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton He had been admitted to hospital late last week after suffering a minor stroke which was fallowed by a second over the weekend councillor Coxe had been in volved with rational In since Its inception As deputy- reeve of Esquesing Township prior to the January 1 birth of the region Mr Coxe had served on county councils special wardens committee the organization of a regionwide government system At that time he expressed his belief that to represent any area in Halton would require a fulltime representative and was one of the first local councillors to devote his fulltime to local politics A lifelong resident of Mr operated a farm on the Seventh Line near Ashgrove prior to involvement with politics For a short tune he operated his own and home decorating Entering politics in 1070 he successfully ran for a councillors seat on Esquesing Township council In his first election campaign he easily topped a sixman field Early In he was acclaimed deputyTeeve of the township and followed that later that year by running unopposed for the regional representatives post for Ward He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Georgetown He had served with the Royal Canadian Army during serving with the RCA overseas In Europe As a member of regional council since he has served on the regions works committee where he has consistently stood for an equal voice for the smaller northern municipalities He has also served on the towns works
