needed a chance to prove to society that they are capable of leading useful meaning id lives It all began ten years ago when the Ishnms brought men to IN retarded adults Into their for a few hours a mimeographing to name but a few of the employment possibilities of the training centre LOVE FOR CERAMICS Carol a trainee at ARC Industries In Hornby enjoys putting the final touches on the ceramics which arc sold at the workshop Ceramics are Just one of the many aspects of work at the training centre painted and turned Into beautiful pieces of pottery eolfee mugs pitchers soap dishes and many of holding up to trainees We strive to develop the maximum of the trainees capabilities Many of the trainees have much more potential than we credit them The workshop gives the trainees a feeling of open hours a day every day of a confidential befriending and referral answering service caller problem or request is solved by a simple referral to right person or agency but the lonely or troubled person needs on understanding listening car so this Is where Centre volunteers own moturlty and sensitivity are extremely Important To further the growth and understanding of the leers monthly meetings are held where add training is provided It was predicted from the beginning thai the centre would find areas or problems which could not be solved over the phone predict on which Indeed did come true A large number of teenagers contacted the centre in hopes of obtaining help in finding for one reason or another another place to live In August of 1974 the Centre founded the Youth Housing
