nine dlvlsons the Rural Softball Association and came away from five playoff championships as well as two league championships The Glen Atom boys and the Glen Bantam boys won Kg both ami titles Although they failed to their leagjie crowns three Glen teams the Squirt boys the Bantam girls and he Midget girls were playoff champions Congratulations are in order for the many people associated Vickcry Georgetown minor baseball final day Championship Day brought down the curtain on what proved to be a very sue season from start lo finish Convening this league was a privilege and a very easy task as a fine group of coaches and fine youngsters extended endless cooperation to make this an enjoyable one to manage Many thanks to Warren and Lois Crawford who looked after the Tripp Real Estate team Jim Mackle and Charlie Keltlngton of the Optimists Hugh Cook and Andy Carter of Toronto Dominion Bank and Hank Chaptin and Joe of Georgetown Tire The only losers during the season were those parents who for one reason or another did not attend the games to wit their youngsters play some very fine baseball The dedicated involvement by the coaches was best exemplified when it was discovered we did not hove a plate umpire for the Tyke game at which time Warren Crawford offered his services and got the game League trophies were distributed as follows League Champion Toronto Dominion Bank Parks who responded very responsibly and quickly to needed repairs and constant maintenance of the ball diamond facilities interest in the A was Toronto Dominion Bank 18 The highest scoring affair of the entire season produced a total of runs off of hits spread amongst seventeen batters Both teams were very evenly matched as the lead exchanged hands on six different occasions The final outcome was decided in the bottom half of the sixth inning when Paul crossed the plate with what proved to be the winning run It was however Bob who ensured the victory taking over from starting pitcher Jamie Craig Bob retired the three Optimist batters In the final Inning with strikeouts Criag and combined yielded hits Issued 11 walks while striking out 10 Optimist batters The Bankers power at the plate was provided by Jamie Craig with 3 doubles Bob a double and singles Shawn a double and triple George Osborne a single and doubles Doug Smith and Paul doubles David Wood a single and double Andy Carter three singles Glenn Schwcyer singles and Cameron Levers a single Losing pitcher Bob Dean gave up hit out and yielded 13 free passes Bob however had a perfect day at the plate with a single double triple and a shot which cleared the left field fence The rest of the losers hits were by Brad Tyndall and Paul Gulstini each with a single and double David Parent 3 singles Jim Gordon Jonet Gorton and league trophies were presented lo each member of the Toronto Dominion Bonk team while the Optimist players received individual finalist trophies MVP T D BankBob Optimists Bob Dean TYKE A first for the G A on Championship was he advent of an All Star Game with league champions being decided earlier by way of a playoff system An all star team comprised of the best players from Irwin and the produced
