LETTERS TO THE EDITOR THE ALP November IB Herald columnist remarks unfair teachers deserve better principal To the editor of The Herald I eel obliged to to would it he llim IDHS loaches Itu lax in reports which school has ttce under Colin Gibson name Editor shouldnt slough his job To the editor of The Her ild would seem that Sports Editor Colin Gibson is having trouble fulfilling his job as a sports reporter never mind a sports editor In his Sports Comment of November 3rd he lashes the coaches of Georgetown District High School teams for not reporting to him Are these individuals teach full lime bike on their own time the responsibility of coaching now also to become sports report far Mr Gibbon It loots very much like your Fditor lb trying to excuse himself from giving poor to sports The Independent doesn I seem to have the com problem Perhaps their sports staff are a little more keen or if no at least a little more understanding and cooperative Thiy have on an average SIX articles per week about sports at The Herald on the other hind has had an average of THREE or less articles per week except of course for the November 3rd edition whin Mr Gibson plated seven articles in the sports section hardly from tilt that fault does not hi entirely with coaches comparing papers isunfiir I would Iheiefon to from exper a case of lack of report lag by Mr Gibson I have a personal friend who coached it list NOT ONI- wis by Mr or Mr during 1 here iinnn but not on this pirticular coaches In conclusion if Mr Gibson reiliy thinks that the athletes art suffering from relative anonjmil las if that whit school sports or sports an about perhaps he should do something about it HIM Th Mr Gibson replies i The hole essence of news gathering be it news or sports Is coopera Hon with those people deal with of the coaches managers and sports people In Georgetown my only link with what on Colin Gibson Sports ditor Candidate upset at invite Burlington can didate William Johnson has expressed disappointment that he was excluded from an all candidates meeting of and officials of last Mr Johnson was remarking in a letter to the editor on the invitation extended to Gray president of the George town Chamber of Commerce and also Progressive alive candidate Julian Ftccd Liberal MPP for Burl attended the meeting also I have no argument with Julian being here he should be Mr Johnson said but there was nothing in the ell motion saying Mr Gray was to attend Ifc was invited bv a member of council invitation was extended by Coun Harry Levy who chaired the meeting Mr Levy
