THE HERALD Outdoors continued The only place you can get ammunition these days is Canadian Tire and the WEST END GUN SHOP in Brampton Moat small sporting goods stores can t handle the registration of guns and ammunition supplies needed and will be under the new federal lawa pertaining to guns The Ontario Hunting Summ Is now available In French as will be the Fishing and hunting summaries from now on The fish that was caught in Fairy Lake In Ac ton during the summer that was thought to be a Walleye turned out to be Just that a walleye I had the fish sent away to the Ministry of Natural Resources Office in Maple and the report has only Just gotten back to me The fish In question had the head and tail of a northern pike and the body of a walleye However the Biologists fed that was Just an off color walleye There is no indication of how it got into Fairy Lake as there was never any stocked in that lake only bass largemoutb and pike It is illeRal stock fish in a lake without the authority of the N and it seems this fish was stocked privately By the way this take is at its best of the season right now and until the bass season closes Why not give It a try Lake Ontario proved to bea waste of time even after stormy waters abated The lake was far too rough to go out on over the first two weeks of September and the third week the fish were scattered and only a few lab were taken They are now gathering in large schools again and are ascending the rivers to spawn The charter boa la lost a lot of business but they are still taking fishermen out and will for a few weeks yet as the salmon will be off the shore even when the majority arc p river MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE A CHARTER CHAPTAIN I emphasize this as there are a lot of disappointed fishermen around With any popular thing to come along there are always some who want to cash in on the action and the Salmon fishery la no exception Call me at or and I will try to give you an update on the charter boats and any other in formation I can on the salmon fishing I know that the first fish are at or even above now but this is only the few frontrunners There are Rainbow Trout being caught at but don t rush off to crowd the fishing holes Remember there is private property to contend with and ifyou see anyone littering or otherwise ruining it for others call the police immediately There are only a Tew more days left to the trout season so watch what you catch and make the best of it See you on the trout stream or the duck marsh or the Lake or Well at least I will see you somewhere as there is lots to do in
