local lo provide this Information Do you feel municipal councillors lire underpaid overpaid or properly paid for their services 1 I believe the Halton Hills mayor and municipal councillors receive lion which is adequate and comparable that received in surrounding municipalities Whether or not the Mayor and Council lorn positions are properly paid depends on how well each particular Major or Councillor Is doing his or her job and the amount of time they devote to It MAYORS JOB 3 Do you see the mayoralty a a full time job In Hills What about regional councillors Jobs Area My experience has shown that the Increasing res ponsibilllles and complexities of the position demand a full time com The ration or a municipality the size of Hills with a budget In excess of can be nothing short of a full time job for the Mayor Do you accept council pre tent polk of holding lit meetings behind closed doom when personnel matters or isiucs involving ongoing lltlga lions are to be discussed not would you like to see policy dropped or amended HILL My position is and always has been that council meetings should be completely open to public When matters of Town personnel or ongoing litigation arc concern on the advice of Town solicitors meetings arc held in camera and I sec no reason in these circumstances only lo disregard that advice There Is no doubt that the confidential nature of some of Council deliberations require closed door meetings to to personnel or pre judice to Town position I would like lo see a much more definitive procedural by law so that the publics right to information is protected What do you reel Is the tingle most Important Issue facing Hills council during Its forthcoming term HILL The main issue TOM HILL PETE POMEROY icing the Council of Hi Is is whether and if so on what terms Properties will lie allowed to develop its Georgetown properly There are many important Issues be dealt with by the incoming Council but I think I would have to say that if there is one issue more important than other it is the course that development of our is going to toke In the next few in the face of increasing outline develop me pressures What do feel Is the single most Important Issue racing Regional council during Its forthcoming term The most important issue facing Regional Council is the solution of the problem relating to disposal in the Region 1OMHun Again it Is very difficult to Isolate a single Regional issue that Is more Important but the establishment of proper v disposal facilities without fur delays would have to rank hich on list of priorities UK is possible It What would your be need or Improved library facilities in III I I have expressed myself on the library issue elsewhere in this newspaper POME ROY There is an established need for improved library facilities in George town The Municipal iloird has told us that must build a facility that we can and no further borrow can take place or this project I feel that wc must make our decision based on these facts and thit decision should be made quickly At II ITUS What would your response be to the need for Improved theatre and or cult facilities In Hills III I a result of negotiation on part with the owners of the new George town Plaza three new movie theatres will be built In Georgetown If cultural groups Council with cone rele proposals including pro posed basic funding Council
