together of the will begin with an evening programme of drama and music at Holy Croat Hall on Friday June ThU segment being performing Is in the hands of Nicholas The first part of the programme will be a one act play GREAT CATHERINE by Bernard Shaw the cost to be announced The second half will feature the CANTANTE SINGERS directed by Dale Wood Featured soloists from among the youth of Ha Hon Hills along with poetry selections will round out the evening entertainment This programme will also be scheduled for the Saturday evening June culminating in a dance to finish the festivities at the close of the Saturday performance Both evenings will also offer wine and cheese for your pleasure and palette During the daytime hours June arts and will be displayed in the natural setting of Park big show of the year Be a Clown Within the ranks of 150 voices seven members are from Halton Hills Angle Ogden from Acton joined the Misslssauga chapter only to realize this type of singing enriched her life She has been a member of the Board of Directors vice president and currently functions as part of the International Extension Team which develops new chorus chapters They have established six target areas one being Orangeville with a possibility of Georgetown being a target for another year Haze Gorin of George town not only blends her voice in ringing chords but also blends together Ingredients for cakes which bring rave reviews from all who taste and tee Using her creative skill In culinary art she overwhelmed members of her chapter with a penguin cake made out of six oblong cakes decorated In black and white to exemplify the colors worn by Mississauga City chapter Other singers from our area are Edna Marian Miles Mary Knowles Pat Taylor and Sue Sedun The circus theme created in the church hall of St Marys church was authentic Decorated as a carousel with streamers balloons and brightly colored flags we Intrigued by type booths around the hall which served popcorn hot dogs drinks and plxza Complete with carousel music we were quickly drawn by clowns to the hall where tables were placed within the carousel During the evening garishly dressed clowns in varied makeup served the tables with happy spirit and moody caricature as well Appropriate lighting surrounded the hall giving the impression of an evening at the circus The smell of popcorn filled the air the hubbub of the people present built the excitement towards the opening of the show Vie were subsequently treated to a chorus of townspeople on an outing to the big top tigers in a cage who did a tap routine to Wheres that Tiger while a trainer kept them in line complete with whip Cheerleaders were part of the act and Siamese twins as a duo sporting T shirts reading Double your Fun Double your Pleasure which caused ripples of laughter Bumbo Jr the elephant created a raucous stir in the crowd followed by two drunken clowns Joined by three others as they did a soft shoe routine while the chorus sang Old Soft Shoe A group of 12 voices sang Merry Go Round Broke Down in excellent harmony as they were choreographed to depict a merrygoround which picked up speed as they tang A Juggling act was excellent and had the audience spellbound with the trios expertise The complete chorus tang Come to a Circus with color and humour The chorus dressed In black and white dresses with red bows depleted the nick name this chorus has of Penguins The disciplined formation of the chorus on risers was Impressive Full chorus opened the Competition Package with Oh Johnny The bass section was consistent In rendering rich tones and the tenors shone In If You Ever See Johnny The number directed by the chorus assistant director was excellent as the number sparkled the blend rang true and the choreography was pleasing Two quartets from within the chorus entertained us well and carry the names Music Machine and City lights The chorus sanga spiritual with color rich timbre and good blend The song If with interesting dynamics A comedy skit while chorus sang the title song Be a Clown was hilariously entertaining While the Music Machine quartet sang Your Jack in the Box a dancer complemented the singers as she danced with fluid creative movement sense of timing and showmanship This number was magnificent The chorus finished the evening with a tribute to their director Joyce Mole as they sang You Light Up My Life which was a highlight on the programme The blend dynamics spirit and balance of melodious tones was tremendous This rendition was attuned to the mood spirit and shading of a dancers to perform The Lyons Dance Troupe will be performing native Indian dances in a presents at Cedarvale Park gym April 18 at The Lyons Dance Troupe is comprised of three prof fa Indian dancers who perform native dances and also explain Indian customs and beliefs Richard Lyons founder of the troupe is on jib way who has been dancing for years He has travelled all over North America per forming his dances at the Invitation of other tribes and band councils The other two members of the troupe ore Brian Lyons Richards son and John Pierre John Pierre is also involved In arts and crafts and has made all his own outfits since he joined the The program Includes traditional dances ac companied by native singers and their drum Mr Lyons alto explains the customs and beliefs of his people Dancing is an important part of most Indian cultures There are dances for birth healing welcoming honor the dead dances of games pleasure hunting planting harvesting peace thanksgiving religion and Individual dancers are gi ven freedom of movements which allow them to develop their own style The dancers knees are slightly bent the back Is straight but the dancer body Is completely Each dance has Its own special song that is perform ed with it augmented by the sound of bells attached to the dancers ankles The dancer also uses yells or calls which arc in integral part of the dance have meanings and Junior Choir are combining to present a musical entitled Enchanted Journey The play a musical version of Pilgrims Progress de tails the story of two children seeking the Celestial City The cast
