the gate fees to locally I recently received a call from Dale Wood of Georgetown Dale runs the Glendale Charters and a member the Lake Erie Salmon and Trout Dale gave me the latest copy of their newsletter and It contains some Interesting facta and figures The third annual Lake Eric Salmon and Trout Derby called the Summer Salmon Search runs July 10 to 25 Glendale Charters Is running out on Lake Erie at that time and a current report of conditions and fishing may bo obtained from either me or Dale Call him at and ask about charters at he same tune The list of prizes In the Summer Salmon Search is long hut Includes airfare for two to British Columbia via CP Air a seven and onehalt horsepower Johnson motor from OMC and lots more The newsletter gave the stocking figures of Lake Eric from American sources For the year Ic 1S81 COHO SALMON CHINOOK SALMON RAINBOW TROUT 341100 BROWN TROUT 323000 LAKE TROUT Note that with exception of Brown trout these figures arc In the millions Ohio also stocked more than fish In 1B7S and Ontario planted by comparison a few rainbow fry The approximate area of Lake Erie Is square miles which makes 1525 fish per square mile And to top It all off the fish arc EDIBLE Ever wonder why some fishermen catch fish and others dont or course you have We all have thought about that at one time or another I have stood fishing at Terra and caught over fifty trout In one day while others had nothing This Is not magical but practical Trilene makers of fishing lines and other products for fishermen have come up with an excellent idea They call It University and the plan Is to educate fishermen to catch more and bigger fish also advocates catch and release with care and some of the findings at the university are amazing Some fishermen can actually feel the differ ence in the thickness of fishing lines Out of lee tested person could correctly arrange In diameter the following lines Trilene Royal gold 00118 Sigma Gladiator Stren 0 00124 and Maxima This thinner line makes less material visible to the fish and that leads to one reason why more fishermen catch less fish they use lines which are too thick Cheap lines are not a benefit as they catch less fish per hour of effort Personally I have removed the heavy leaders and other additives from young peoples fishing equip ment given them my lures and watched their catch rate Increase Credit and was eventually relieved by Auger While the club has more hits than any other In the junior league walks and errors are cancelling out that advantage coach James said One of the bright spots
