few times Unfortunately for local business operat ors it happens too many In general people who live outside the north Ha lion area dont know the exact location of Acton Georgetown Milt on and the outlying nlties Those people arc missing Ontarios most naturally beautiful areas boasting the Niagara Escarpment numerous lakes and streams rolling and beautiful forests The towm and villages in area Milton Eden Mills Acton Glen Willi ams George town and Terra complement this natural beauty with a common heritage theme The Ontario Agricultural Museum the county Radial Railway leather heme town apple farms craft and boutique villages and Country Inns collectively constitute a heritage microcosm of central Ontario Each of these compo nent communities and individual operations within and between them hove had varying degrees of success in attracting tourists but as proven with the immensely successful and very analogous relationship between the communities of St Jacobs and Fergus a Georgetowns Carol Lowe pops up at three seniors residences arms laden with books Mrs Lowe la a volunteer with the Georgetown library who likes read Since 1975 shes en making sure seniors who also enjoy reading have plenty or fresh material to pore over Six said she got started helping out after a chat one day with fellow library staffer Esmo Ball Ive always liked older people I would see older people needing lifts around town and I was talking one day to Esme about It and thats how It all began Mrs Lowe said Babysat by senior citizens when she wu girl and raised In an area where there were a lot of elderly neighbors Mrs Lowe developed a penchant for getting along with older people Called the library lady by seniors at Kin Court Sargent Road and Durham Street seniors residences Mrs Lowe said she drops off about books each residence when she visits The incidence of books being lost or nol being returned Is bo much lower than with Ihe library In general she remarked Although the cards pictorial books on Canada or Canadian history books Residents at the Durham Street apartments like French books Mrs Lowe said since many of Ihem are French Canadians The nicest part about this job Is that these can came up mo and ask mo for a specific they want lo read Mrs Lowe said She recalled how once blushing and giggling one of the ladles asked her for books by Maggie I thought she meant
