up flavors of the popular summertime treat Barb opened up the business May It started off slow but keeps getting belter she said of her business Although she paid herself any salary yet Barb said pretty well everything else Is paid for Major expenses for the business arc hydro and rent Taxes advertising Insurance and cleaning materia are additional expenses Barb said her older brother Larry gave her a financial boost to start her off CAR SHOP Located in an older building painted white with green trim near the corner of Prince and Main in the Glen and across from Nature Em Scoops was form a customized car and van parts operated by Barbs brother Jack The specialty ma nee shop was closed down and carpentry work by Jack and his dad and redecorating by Barb renovated the building into an ice cream shop I wanled a full time job for the summer and could n t find one Barb said Having worked part time at Preston s grocery storeinthcGlcn she knew she enjoyed working with local people There are always tour coming through here Barb said When I work William Company Lid in Georgetown and told them what she had in mind Finally she was old they would call her back I thought forget it they re going to think a kid wants to open on ice cream store I was shock when a guy called me back two days later Barb said I Just didnt expect the response I gat Unsure up that point about going ahead with her Idea the positive sup port she received from the company aged her to go ahead with It she said Because she has agreed to sell only Ice cream Barb was supplied with a free cooler to keep the ice of the r Is built on private proper through land ease ments granted by the property owners Air Walker assured the audience that the open space policies are not regulations which allow public use of private lands Policies In the plan suggest that the town should acquire property to build up stretches of open space for use More extensive shared use and or leased use of private lands shall be
