editor The Herald Just a short c your editorial of Aug 18 1 must that I agree with your comments and I hope they have some Driver training is un the most important aspect to motor- safety It is my opinion that driver train ing for motorcyclists should be mandatory as it should be with automobil es A motorcycle has some Inherent safety features such as mobility that provides a properly train ed rider the opportunity to avoid a mishap A motor cycle generally stops faster than any vehicle on the road again If the rider Is properly trained So the accident avoid ance is the motorcyclists ace card In the event of a mis hap proper clothing leather Jacket and pants gloves and or course a helmet with eye protec tion can save a lot of personal In Junes The limlling of horse power is something Ive been waiting to see for years Its quite beyond me why anyone would need a motorcycle rated 100 horsepower and capable of 147 mph right out of the box It wasnt that long ago that racing motorcycles werent that fast Now these same rockets are sold anyone with the cash or credit regardless of age or experience For our part we do caution purchasers of the horsepower of these machines but as retailers we are very much caught between tho manufacturers and the consumers Ive ridden motorcycles for over 17 years and have never had an accident or mishap one speeding ticket 13 over but when I started riding at age 16 the only bike available and affordable also fortunately had a minimum of horsepower and speed to go with my lack of experience Thanl you for your thought I hope they dont go
