Morrow Uvea In George town and been figure skating for eight yearn The 11year old has always been skating to Georgetown is year Is coached by Janet Fell Competing In the Event wllh Jennifer Hoddlnolt at the Tammy says her goals are to be a champion Olympic skater and buy grandmother a mink coat At the test level Tammy won the last two Club competitions and Inter Club competitions at her level She Turner a team man When Tim Turner came back to Georgetown after spending three years In Alberta the Raiders gained a homebrew hockey player ana a hustl ing earn player Said general manager Don Tim is always conscious of the team element If he do well he feels he let the team down managed Tim when he a Minor Midget In Georgetown rep hockey During that time remembers Tim as a hard working player who managed to overcome setbacks In furthering bis hockey career After spending time In Jasper and Calgary as Junior hockey player was the league rookie of the year winner drywaller construction worker gas Jockey and insurance salesman Tim returned home for primarily two reasons JOB MARKET The Job market had dried up considerably out West and Tim wanted to further his hockey career on a more serious level Through connections with the StmtsvUle Derby Tiro promts a chance to try out with New York professional hockey club Tim decided he would either play for or the Raiders and look for work in the East Reluming home with fiancee and his two dogs who were shipped by air Tim hopes to gain experience with the Raiders and get Graham looking to Los Angeles Continued from page Going Into the final event in Vancouver Sept Canadian Equestrian team member Torchy Millar held lb circuit lead by three The trip to Vancouver was worthwhile for Hugh as he came in third place and earned five points for a won the Equestrian of the Year title isa big 17 hand chestnut gelding owned by Laura Tobias of Tor and In his first season of open Jumper competition Graham second mount Athenian Prince ls owned by Samson Farms of Hornby Ontario and took second place recently in the September Grand Prix In Griff Park California Hugh says that both horses are potential cand idates for the Los Angeles Olympics In 1984 an event he sees as one of bis future goals Hugh became Involved equestrian Jumping after meeting former Canadian Olympic team member Jim Day He became more interested In jumping and he ued his association with Jim Day back into perfect playing form The 22 yearold forward began to look Impressive early as a hockey player At age eight he won team a rookie of the year award Progressing through the minor hockey ranks at Mldeet Tim began playing occasionally for the Junior B Geminls as an ate player TENDONS SEVERED During the last hall of his Midget year Tim severed tendons in his that required Some thought he would never be able to play hockey again because of the injury It was four months before he could move his fingers again But Tim came back and played two years for the Junior B Geminls always among top scorers on the team In his third year advanced to Platters where he stayed with the team until m November Tim most exciting moment in hockey was playing In where he said he played his best hockey Tim of Ship builders and Raider teammate Cormier were in the time Although Tim had made the final cut with Platters he got the itch to travel and was told a Junior team in Jasper could provide a Job for him if he played out West LOTS OF JOBS Jobs were plentiful In Western Canada which meant a lot to an IByearold hockey in George town 10 170 pounder remembers when he won the rookie of the year award Hugh Campbell of the Ion came down to moke the presentation to Tim Campbell stayed the evening to talk and drink with T m and his teammates Tim eventually moved from per to Calgary where he found a job as an arena manager He was able to play In a league similar to Intermediate in Ontario Although ice time was always good being around arena Ttm said he lost part of his quickness by not playing better hockey Two days before Tim left Calgary he severed more tendons this time in his ankle where he scraped It on some metal Elding NO FEELING He still has no feeling in the side of his foot and came back to Georgetown with a cast on his foot Until a month ago he couldn move his toes As a Raider in the Intermediate A league T notices that because some of the players are older they re more apt to use their head before making a Gary Ford t give Ihe puck away and slows you down his pace he said approvingly When Tim and Bruce Ellison were on the wings with centre and playing coach Gary Ford the line looked the most Impressive on the team He and Ellison worked in the corners and Gary Ford was the smarts m said Don calls Turner as lough a k d you d wanta meet It a matter of harnessing his ability He should excel but he has to play above his calibre meaning Tim better following the example of leaden like Gary Ford As a move by the Raider general manager lo bring
