Sunday Black clouds threatened rain and the first game was forfeited by Indcpend ent Appraisal Systems when they foiled to pro duce player cards As the day progressed how ever the sun appeared and the action heated up GREEKS 14 For the Greeks this game served as their first practice No mat they handled s the some way they would in son or at the end of the season for that matter Their football prowess particularly that of tho man with the arm quarterback Rick Baldwin la a little fright Wilson and James Allan were their main offensive threats racking up 14 and 13 points respectively John Karolidls scored a touchdown and a two- Track club at Oakville Olympics North Halloo Sport receiver Greg pulls away from and Paving defender Colin Brown during tea ionopen lag flag football action Sunday morning at the high school JV Jets big winners in ladies football It was opening day for the Georgetown Ladles Flag Football League Sunday The hard work and effort that went into setting up this league was very apparent as it was nothing less than a smooth running ess All the girls had fun and played well and it was easy to see from the excitement and enthus iasm by the girls as well as the spectators that this league will be Just as popular as the s league has been The opening game saw the J V Jets down ing Work That Body The Jets opened the scoring in the second quarter with a field goal by Linda Ferguson guson added a touch down In the third quart Deb Barber and Janet MacKay both scored majors in the final ter with Ferguson add Ing the conversion Muffler and the Diet Centre met for the second game with Thruway winning Quarterback Monica Mastelerz handed off to MaJUand who scampered yards for the game only touch down In the third quart taking on Nor Sports These teams were very even ly matched with many of the veterans from the Tourna ment Inst year The only scoring in this game came In the first period King opened up with an early by Donna Waters Cathy win and Presley suffered 10 11 30 a NEXT WEEK JV Jets King Pizza Work That Body The Diet Centre i vs H Sports Junior members of the Georgetown Track Club competed in the Royal Bank Junior Olympics In recently This was the first competition for our youngest member eight year old Laura Hewitt who challenged the me meter and 800meter races as well as the hurdles Atom Mike Melville placed first In the high jump with a personal best effort or 133 centi meters Mike also ran in the meter taking fourth place Our strong bantam contingent showed up well in all events Bouskill placed third in high Jump and second In the bantam 1500- meter event Lisa Carter came second in high jump and sixth in the 200meter race Chris had a personal best in the high jump of 145 centime placing second in the bantam division Chris also placed second in the Javelin and third In shot put Tarn Burroughs brought home four first place ribbons compel ing In the meter sprint high Jump shot put and javelin Mike Johnson had a great day placing first in Ihe Overlfl high jump with a personal best of centime- Congratulations to all of our participants and a special thank you to Gail and Jenny Melville and Pat Burroughs for their assistance at the point conversion while Mark Russell added an other D Steve Peace and Dean Scallen padded the lead with a couple of two- point Bruce Robertson and Doug helped make the score
