defeated Wednesday afternoon by Burlington Central High School at the Georgetown field The game left Georgetown with a two wins three lobses mark this season In East tier II Junior boys football league play But the Rebels will still make the playoffs The top eight ranked teams qualify for post season play and the Rebels were ranked sixth Georgetown will face third place Milton In the first where to go for a university education Is something Joanne Bingham wont have to worry about now The IByearold Grade 13 George town District High School student will be attending Western Michigan University this fall on a full athletic scholarship for her prowess on the volleyball court The coach there saw me last year playing club volleyball at the Junior provincials Bingham said A couple of weeks ago be was in Toronto and dropped by and talked about the school and programs available Bingham also visited the campus In Kalamazoo Michigan and really liked what she saw there It a real vollevball town she said They get about 3000 people out to the games and volleyball there is the number one sport Two other American schools were also interested in the sixfoot oneinch Bingham However she had special volleyball school and the academic programs are good too said But its also fairly close a six hour drive from Georgetown This way my parents J down and JOANNE BINGHAM home said having the scholar ship renewed every year does put pressure on her to improve or at least maintain the level she is currently at However she doesnt feel that will hinder her at all Im fairly confident Ill be able to maintain it scholarship she said Bingham is also confident she will see a lot of court tune next season too One of the things the coach said to Rebel hoop teams have differing weeks even their record at day Georgetown dropped a decision to T A and daya the Rebels lost a contest to Coaches Meredith Syme and Ton Spina felt their squad could win their contest based on what they saw tolls with teams from the Big conference This season the school is ranked 11th In American college ladles volleyball polls Bingham said she is glad she knows what her future plans are for university education and added she might take physical education or communications at the American school I know 1 be going somewhere and in that respect the pressure is off she said Obtaining the scholarship means all of Bingham educational expenses will be taken care of by the school Over a four year time period that could amount to around Bingham said However the scholarship will be renewed on a yearly basis Bingham who this summer played for the Canadian Junior ladles team despite only having a year of club ball experience said she would still like to play for the national senior team in the future She also said her dream to play in the Olympics is still alive It will have to be in 1992 though she said I still be going to school in For the remainder of this year however Bingham will continue play club ball in Scarborough and will also suit up for the Georgetown District High School senior girls team led on a double reverse major by Mike Steed late in the second quarter Burlington got the convert in odd fashion as the snap from centre was fumbled Kicker Joe Korman picked up the bail then ran It in for the two pointer Earlier in the quarter the Rebels had the ball the Burlington but
