preservation of community- based schools the Stevens property upgrading of residential roads adequate parkland formal recognition of arts community preservation of the downtown These Issues directly impact Georgetown future and the people in Wards Residential growth must take place at no expense to the existing taxpayers It must be designed to support local businesses and our existing community schools Industrial growth is needed to offset higher taxation Without knowing the Impact upon Individual residents market value assessment must be opposed to protect Ward 3 residents from soaring proper ty taxes Accelerated upgrading of residen roads must be a budget priority It Is Important that Ward 3 residents elect a councillor who knows the people and has the proven ability to effective ly represent the interests of the people I lived in the Park Area of Ward 3 for several years My family and I are returning to Ward 3 early in the new year along with others successfully ought for the librarycultural centre and the preservation of the downtown core have represented the interests of Ward 3 residents for the past years as their Trustee on the Hal ton Board of Education I would consider It an honour to continue that representation as Ward 3 councillor When In business downtown was one of the founders of Pioneer Days headed Pioneer Days as chairman on two occasions and worked as promoti oris coordlnator 1 was on the original downtown Business Committee and was Chair man of the Business Improvement Area after it was formed I live in Ward 1 own my home and commercial property in Ward 3 and I have the time available and the desire to represent Ward 3 In council In my opinion over the past years there has been too much industrial property rezoned for other uses I will look into the Stevens proper ty purchase and the present expenditu res and feasibility of It for the municipal complex The property standards malnten bylaw covering the downtown cores will be looked into If it is good for one or two parte of Halloo It is good enough for all of Halton Hills feel there Is a need to expand if we dont Brampton will We need Industrial growth as well as residential growth to offset the taxes The new tax structure section S3 will affect all of us but mostly the older homes it was not felt in Brampton because It has industry and the taxes offset ft Also we must not forget our rural areas These areas are vital to the community and the environment Three major town issues PHIL CARNEY The next few years are going to be extremely important In our communl ty because there are two or three major issues forthcoming They are as I see them 1 Equalized Assessment Development south of Hungry Hollow on the Line and possibly Georgetown West 3 The potential development of a Municipal Complex 1 EQUALIZED ASSESSMENT- With regards to Item There is no doubt VAVvt in my mind that we have Inequities As things stand now noone can tell within our present tax structure that whose taxes will go up or whose taxes have to be addressed the major wilt be reduced as a result of council problem stems from the fact that having Implemented Sec and that la certain areas are assessed at a the only reason that I couldnt support different mill rate than others Further the implementation of this section As adding to the problem are toe dates councillor under which assessments were made motion in ibis regard we will be able to assist those In our community that are excessively I will of course be available for any assistance to anyone In my ward that feel they have been maltreated or need assist ance In this or any other matter DEVELOPMENT SOUTH OF HUNGRY HOLLOW Regarding Item Development is definitely going to happen over the next few years and I feel that it Is extremely Important If we wish to maintain the character and quality of life we all enjoy in George town that your representative be knowledgeable In such things as types on in different areas For example we have assessment 1960 assessment and also current or new assessment
