1901 when a group of ladies travelled across the country roads with the vision to form a Women Institute in It was just five years alter the first Women Institute was founded in Stoney Creek Ontario What foresight these ladles had in 1901 The Halton District Women a In stitute has grown to branches and members and now is part of the Associated Country Women of the World organization which boasts over million members worldwide Nov the ladies of the 12 branches Joined together to celebrate their 85th birthday with a dessert luncheon at United Church on Trafalgar road Tht- celebration commenced with a very touching ceremony starting with three candles being lit The first candle represented the past and was lit by Edna Wilson one of longest members celebrating her of membership Mrs Wilson shared a few memories of days gone by The second candle represented the pre sent and was 111 by Elizabeth Trcvlranus president of District Women Institute The third candle the candle of the future was
