recall hat a couple of months ago principal Barb Singleton declared that Georgetown high was to go smoke free This original plan however has gone awry Instead of using the courtyard at the centre of the school smokers are now using the southwest parking lot to satisfy their habits The problem is that students who drive to school have to drive through this area This can bo difficult and causes a problem for janitors who among other things must clean up the area at the end of each day Because it is a larger area it tends to collect more garbage than an area such as the courtyard located at the ciwoi It centre seems the ball is now in the schools court they basically have two choices These are At enforce the no smoking rule or reInstate the central courtyard as the smoking area Tor students was a day to remember No not because of Moonlighting it was the Grade 13 Slave Auction Picture the curtain lowered to a level bidders could only see the slaves legs and Ross McGill as the auctioneer Bidding started at cents and the price quickly rose Bids ranged from to a whopping or the lovely and talented Mire Vicky Hill Slaves must do the master wishes for one period on Wednesday Commands were cute to strange Suddenly there were Grade 13 men barking like dogs wearing dresses and singing serenades In the middle of the Cafeteria Slave day was a huge success and I must thank Jason Rogers for his version of Pee Wee Hermans Te quila All proceeds go to the report Barbara Coloroso seminar sold out Over tickets were sold Ms Coloroso Is nationally known and respected and is said to be one of the most entertaining speakers around Acton High is proud to have Brown Bag Theatre hit the stage this week Students have worked for over a month on these ploys doing all the jobs including directing and advertising Todays presentation of The Vcl edict or an was terrific and Ive heard some great reviews about the others The plays continue tomorrow and Friday Miss Powell the drama teacher should be commended for her ex cellent work in the department Almost a student herself Miss Powell Is she took over for Mrs The staff has been busy taking photos and preparing this years yearbook Despite some pro blems at the beginning this year book is expected to be the best one the school has ever seen The staff is always looking tor photographers so give a hand if youre Interested Thursday Is Hair Day to be followed by Beach Day on Friday Its too bad the weather couldn t co operate for the dance Friday even ing The Hal ton Badminton Touma men was held In the gym this week Teams from all over Ha
