out to a modest success I writing you to suggest thnl his year stint teaching at was a period in which Jim bigger contribution that even he Teenager cared for young son Dear Sir All to often we hear of all the things wrong with teenagers today An Incident which happened today to my son demonstrates that most our young people are responsible and caring My son who is 12 was riding his bike ot the Fairgrounds when he had an accident and landed on his knocking the wind out of him As he lay on the ground recovering a young lady approached him and helped him to fits feci Ho was still not feeling Sir I would like lo commend Dave for his editorial In this past week Issue of the Herald regarding the hospital program He has shown his insight into this Important matter and recognises the pro cedures that must be followed This Issup from the start been surrounded by imiaccuracles and speculation and I would like to clarify some of these Facts 1 Directors are elected by the shareholders to be responsible for decisions in the best Interests of the corporation they represent Since its inception that public has had the right to participate for a nominal fee Where have you been Clearly Directors must not place themselves at risk by speaking on this matter They arc following the legal process If there is fault with the process gel and change it by writing to your and ministry Involved 3 Any board or directors operates with a quorum as outlined in their by laws This Is no different from Corporations have long had clos meetings This is not unusual but the norm We give millions of dollars through taxation to fund corpora bans and federally but never hear or receive copies of their financial reports or minutes of directors meetings The ministry has enough con in the local hospital to allocate funding for the chronic care ward It was the foresight and dedication of many of these same board members who ensured we would have the floor space available If the board were doing anything illegal they would quickly be shut dawn by the ministry The Bennett Health Cure Centre is a privately funded institution and not part of the hospital II can use your donations Hospital annual reports are published as ore the dates of the an nual meeting It is a credit to the board that the hospital is not operating at a large deficit as other hospitals are 10 No delegations have ever been refused by the board 11 Volunteers had nothing to gain making a decision like this ex community outrage Decisions are based on facts and not or emotions 12 This community has long been a community full of willing volunteers who make and stick with their eommitments to moke this a better community to live in As rs these board members spend several hours weekly on hospital business as they serve on the various subcommittees In the past year it has not been unusual for some members of this hoard to spend in excess of hours per week on hospital business That takes commitment and dedication The business of running the hospital Is not based upon one issue but on many If you get involved you will find out this job is not as easy as present Board of Directors is made up of capable people from nil walks of life They are not left radicals They are not one- issue people They are concerned thoughtful trying to do a job for our community This board has proven they make decisions I encourage you lo wilt until all the facts come out before Judging so critically this volunteer board flan to the annual meeting listen lo this board over the past year You may be surprised
