fiction but certainly one of the most forgettable Who has braved the challenge of portraying Charles Dickens Infamous skin flint in Georgetown Little Theatres produc lion of A Christmas Carol Edgar Edgars fascination with Scrooge goes bock to Grade when the was performed at Public school Although his Involvement In that production was disappointingly minimal Edgar continued to secret cherish the role of Scrooge and resist trying out for the part when he discovered was going to present the Dickens classic He was a trifle surprised when he lually landed the role after all these years and is deriving much pleasure from it This is Edgars first performance with He is primarily a profes sional musician with The Edgar James Company musical duo who have performed in colleges and universities across Ontario and eastern Canada A talented Edgar has written produced and performed in four other cast members a musical variety ed The Trouble With Growing Up Is which played for benefit In both Georgetown and Edgar has also come close to taming moviestar status he played a photo double for the posse leader in Mrs Soffel a slightly less- than well known movie which starred Mel Gib son and Diane Can Hollywood be next Edgar Having a naturally friendly sunny disposition Edgar finds It hard to be nasty as Ebenezer Scrooge He says good directing and the lion of Alistalr who played Scrooge in the classic film version arc what he leaning on to round out his Edgar relishes the humourous bits in the play and describes Its musical score as with catchy witty wonderful songs And indeed they life It may not be the dream of every to write the script of his own life But to special group of teenagers in Georgetown acting out what they feel from their own ex is a way of discovering who they are The young people are members of a group founded In Georgetown by Life Skills counsellor Kristen and the second of Its kind in Ontario was first used a form of J I Moreno a Viennese psychiatrist and on temporary of Sigmund Freud He realized the value of allowing people to express their lings directly rather than just talking about them Acting It out is a perfect sis Kris said And the best 15yiirsold and first formed last spring Kris notified of the Open Door and word the students in school Since then the troupe has met once week and has been perform to 20- minute plays at Club and Just Say No rallies and local middle schools Kris stresses that Ihe group In eclectic each person is there for a different reason Some had trouble with the law ly problems personal problems she said Some the groups closeness both Inviting and relaxing Izy one of the first members of a Hal ton Youth Theatre Ensemble Joined through her connection with Open Door She soon round she had a lot to learn about herself When I first came I didn feel 1 could connect with people I felt I dldn have anyone to connect with she said her hands poised below her throat In an effort to ex her feelings No one ever new when something was bother Ing me I was the perfect no pro blem person But Izy has since learned to con nect She says the group has taught her how to be confident and trusting even of strangers I have the courage to approach peo ple now she added I could never do that before Jason echoed a comments but he notes that Instead of shying away from other people he shied away from his own feelings I had things I kept locked up In side and it unbearable said Jason 1 know I have a bad temper and I tend to want to give up on things you know if it gets to hard to deal with getaway The psychodrama therapy group meets once weekly In the offices of the Drug Abuse Committee The group a leader Kris Bulmer is also a counsellor for adolescents with drug abuse related difficulties Each week students check in each offering a brief description of what happened during the week If a particularly hurtful or bother some event has occurred Kris might suggest the group act it out A key to coping with the problem is acting out various rolLs A group member may first play himself then he might in the next instant play the role of his teacher or he may have had the confrontation with There is always
