Christmas time and never expect an American ver of a French film to be as good as the original Three Men and a Baby confirms my beliefs So it not great and it t quite have charm of the original still it is not too bad and it docs have Tom Scllcck Watching Tom Selleck can make up for a lot of flaws At least or the women In the audience Three Men and a Baby has a gorgeous look It was filmed largely in Toronto but is set In New York The bachelor quarters of and is simply fabulous There ore some marvellous graphics decorating the foyer and the elevator Inside lots of glass and greenery and Imaginative design will make you hunger for an Interior decorator to fix up your place The baby and the apartment almost eclipse the men I not Scllcck of count just what their names and certainly provides a feasl for Ihe eyes when the plot and direction fall a little flat And they do frequently The Plot What can we say The tie says It all Besides having a baby left on their doorstep the trio have to deal with a packet of heroin left at their apartment as well Somehow the two get mixed up You can see why heroin looks so much like baby formula right Soon we have cops and dalcrs chasing guys and scaring the baby When all is settled there Is a false ending that Is a little confusing for a few minutes But the movie goes on to Its detriment Finally Mom comes back for baby She plans to take away to England The guys get all tcary and the baby looks cuter than ever But hey all s well that ends well Mom Just can cope by herself so Mary and Mommy move in with Daddy and buddies Now the movie really ends won bother inticmnn billy plot You can Imagine it from me But one thing did really bother me was the ihe men initially handled the baby I simply can l believe that men can be portrayed as such dolts when coping with children in I did Alan suffer for nothing Come on men lr to bribe babies to slop them crying And they must have seen how a baby Is held somewhere What the point of having a TV in your house If you cm even pick this up from diaper commercials The men in tht audience should be insulted these dimwit characters it Is it makes It even harder for the to suspend disbelief Ted plays an egotistical and carefree who happened to father is fine hut lit rialiy so much better in Cheers its because Sam Malonc gets funnier lines Steve If Michael an immature cartoonist who can quite gel the girls tn bed He is really overshadowed by his costars baby the opart ment Is good as the more mature of three that not say ing a whole lot Die one who really can He Is only one Involved in
