additional trucks on the community surrounding the pro posed Acton quarry dump does not Include garbage coming from Metro Toronto of Marshal Monaghan Ltd told an au dience of about people at the Ac ton quarry study group meeting June that Metro Toronto wasn t In a garbage crisis when the study was conducted between IBM and 1968 Although the transportation study Is a worst case scenario Metro Toronto garbage was not Included In the study she Id Era Logic Laboratories President Douglas who Is conducting the public information process for RSI said several months ago that the proposed dump may take gar bage from Metro Toronto RSI President Walter said Metro included because Metro wasn t In a garbage crisis when the study was conducted and because so per cent of the waste will come from private haulers However even if Metro Toronto was included the number of trucks wouldnt change drastically said Mr The dump could hold million tonnes over 20 years but RSI will on ly be permitted handle one million tonnes a year he said That means couldnt increase the number of trucks much more even with waste coming from Metro In an often stormy meeting Logic was accused changing their proposal at the last minute The transportation study had named many routes which trucks could use coming from Hat ton Peel and Wellington County but no route was listed as preferred in the study However at l a a conversation with a local resident at the POWER dinner June altered the study to name Highway lo Regional Road Into the dump as the preferred route Bui Regions Linda said she was annoyed at changes in the study when regional stair spent hours critiquing the report Regional Councillor Pom Sheldon who is not an official member of the study group also criticized quick changes Every lime you talk to somebody in the washroom are we going to get new reports she said said the move was a responsible reply to a concern put forth by a member or the The Idea Is to keep extra truck traffic off the Fourth Line and Slderoadl7hesaid But there Is no legal way to en force the designs led route he admit ted The dump operators would have make sure trucks are using the routes he said Ms Kozorys Smith said about 0 additional trucks each day would be using the intersection at Regional and Highway It Is estimated that about too trucks a day are using that tion now from a quarry at the first intersection which would perlence an Increase of per in truck traffic Residents along In Milton recently received a 10 per cent reduction in their property taxes due to truck traffic along the road Ms KozorysSmlth said RSI would attempt to make sure trucks would use the designated route by blocking off lanes coming from the east of the dump on Regional Road That would ensure they would have to come from Highway she said Charge laid Assault charge A Milton man was charged with assault with a weapon and dangerous and careless use of a firearm as a result of an argument June at 3 a with an
