Regional Police say 40- yearold Kenneth Golem from Guelph was using a sharp knife to cut a cardboard box when the knife slipped and cut his left thumb The man made it to the washroom to remove some of the blood before passing out and falling to the ground hitting his bead and cutting his nose say police Mr Golem was taken to Guelph Hospital where he was stitched up and released say police All for one The Acton and Georgetown Chambers of Com were officially united on Jan at the Acton Legion as president Murray vice president Mike Manes and Mayor Russ Miller joined in the celebration with the in connection with two Georgetown robberies and a break and enter in Milton The suspects were charged with stealing firearms from a Milton outdoor store and used them to hold up two banks in Georgetown The three people were arrested May 11 said Staff Sgt Welsh Two have pleaded guilty and one is before the courts in a preliminary hearing Staff Sgt Welsh was involved in a joint investigation with the Ontario Provincial Police A companys owner was allegedly stealing profits while selling million worth of vending machine franchises The fraud was an in ternational set up said Staff Sgt Welsh When asked if he would miss detective work Staff Sgt Welsh said he would enjoy his new ex periences as leader of a platoon of officers I look forward to passing on years of knowledge to officers who have just started out he said The majority of my time with the police department has been spent in the Halton Hills area I really like the work and the people Halton board employees honored Two men from the Board of Education were recipients of the Marshall McLuhan Award at a board ceremony Thursday night Sam Sherratt Public School Gerry Smith is one of 15 in the province to win the award of excellence aimed at pro moting advances in educational communications The award Is given for in novative and effective use of learn technologies said Board Chair Pat Hillhouse Mr Smith was given a cash award of 500 A gift of went to his school Mr Smith a part time instructor in computer studies at York University sub mitted a successful fiveyear pro posal for the use of the Apple
