Georgetown is running into opposition from nearby business owners Georgetown Chrysler wants to build a gas station and automatic car wash on the northeast comer of Armstrong Avenue and Guelph Street The land needs to be ream ed to allow the car wash But owners of the Coinop car wash on Guelph Street and members of the Georgetown Coop have concerns about the proposal Allio Concaleas and Frank Lea coowners of the Coinop car wash want to know how much water the car wash will use but they were told those details havent yet been worked out Mr Concaleas thinks the eastern end of Georgetown has enough car washes already He asked coun cillors to judge whether we need another car wash in the area Sheldon Glickman an agent representing the Coop store said the Coop was denied two en trances off Street when the company installed gas pumps in 1983 and he was told to grade the property so the gas pumps were placed lower than the road creating visibility problems He wants to know if the same stan dards will apply to the new car wash and gas station Town planning director Ian Keith said he will research the Co op application and prepare a report Robert Mary a member and director of the Coop doesnt want the extra business to cut into the Coops volume at the pumps The gas pumps are helping the Coop business remain at its pre sent location Mr Mary said Id like proof that another one is need ed or that another one wouldnt hurt the Coop businesses But a gas bar could be built on the property now without countered Clare the agent for Georgetown Chrysler He argued that a second automatic car wash Is needed in Georgetown the only other one is located at the Gas Station on Guelph Street and Sinclair Avenue The issue of entrances onto Street can be settled by the towns site plan committee he said Town staff will prepare a report with recommendations on the ap plication in two weeks Bach a Fighter with Easter Seals Why Wait til Spring WE HAVE A GREAT PETER SELECTION OF SI
