field last year and not used by soccer that the field did not long remain up to the new stan dard Considering that the payer of monies to both groups is the same parent of a club or school player it operation PAWS is a combined effort between the Halton Hills Recreation and Parks Department and the Red Cross Society In the past the PAWS teams have visited both Acton and Georgftown area schools teaching water safety skills for aquatic oriented activities The program was presented to children in kindergarten through grade eight and was well received by both teachers and students The pro gram has succeeded in educating children in such areas as safe boating procedures general water safety cold water survival ar tificial respiration and choking vic tim procedures This year the team consists of Ten Cowbrough and Tina Harvey Their goal is to visit the public school students of Halton Hills Project PAWS is specially geared to grade four and grade eight students At these levels the program enforces water safety knowledge and introduces the students to the Junior tion Award The award teaches the basics of simple emergency treat ment of choking and non breathing victims The team will be touring with their friend ACTAR who will assist in teaching the students ar tificial respiration The Department of Recreation and Parks is also offering another facet of the P A W S program The PAWS
