commercial Hills will stay the same til the town gets more money town engineer Bob Austin said last week Unless there a bucketful of money falling from the sky he said pick up will continue to be once weekly for residences and twice weekly for businesses And although a recommendation was made last year to limit the number of bags per collection location he said the amount will not change You may not have quelled the troubled waters in the business area said Acton Coun Gerald Austin last week He said business people were complaining that some businesses were getting better garbage tion service than others But Mr Austin said that any establishment is welcome to the towns service He said the essence of the towns latest trash collection report is to be fair and equitable An average is in the budget this year for commercial refuse said Mr Austin He added that it would be spent in quarters at four times a year The impetus behind the system is to collect garbage and not to clean up messes created by businesses he said If approved by town council at this weeks meeting the new gar bage bylaw would be in operation by October The latest report is the product of five reports and over a year or discussion The com mercial refuse collection issue first came to council through the Georgetown Chamber of Com Generally the present com mercial refuse collection we pro vide is satisfactory said Mr Austin But it is not the most at tractive system or the safest system Mr Austin said the system is cost efficient Council formerly defeated mo that offered changes to the garbage collection plan I made the last time for changes and I wasnt coming back to make it again he said We now suggest that curbside pick up be eliminated where desirable and that municipal packers pick up on private proper ty Mr Austin said in a recent report to town council The report also said there would be no limit to how many bags are collected at one location But there is an added stipulation that old cor rugated cardboard con tamers be replaced with plastic bags for storing garbage OCC is not allowed to be collected for land fill in Halton Region Specific locations for garbage collection will be into an agreement between the town and the commercial business says the town report Coun said there are peo ple from outside Halton Hills who use the towns commercial pickup service There are people in Rockwood dropping garbage off on Mill Street in Acton he said But Mr Austin said there is no bylaw in place to prosecute of fenders And we have not been able to presecute those who put their refuse
