29 Police say a 30yearold Cambridge man and a 31yearold Acton man had been drinking when the two started to argue The Cambridge man kicked the other mans vehi cle at which time the Acton man got out of his car and struck the Cambridge man He was treated at Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital for a cut nose bru and scratches to the back of his shoulders Both men are to appear in court June 26 Window smashed Police say someone smashed the south side window of an office building in the Armstrong Avenue area of Georgetown and stole an adding machine telephone and in change sometime between the afternoon of May 27 and the morning of May 29 The stolen property is valued at 150 Stereo stolen A car stereo valued at 30 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the area of Irwin in Georgetown sometime between the late evening of May and the next morning police say During the same period a equalizer was stolen from a lock ed Toyota parked on Crescent in Georgetown The vehicles right rear door had been pried open Roof damaged Police say someone used a skateboard on the roof of a GMC van parked in the area of Eden Place in Georgetown sometime between the evening of May and the next morning causing approximately in damage Charges laid Police have laid charges of im paired driving following a citizens complaint In response to the call police found a 38-year- old Georgetown man in a car parked in a Sinclair Avenue park ing lot A court date was established during a bail hearing held Thursday 1400 stolen Police say someone stole from a convenience store Queen according to Regional survey results released this month In a report to Regional coun cillors last week Environics Research Group Limited data in dicated that per cent of Halton Hills residents surveyed said they participated in a recycling pro gram This compares to Burlington where 93 per cent participate Oakville where per cent par ticipate and Milton where per cent of residents are active in a recycling program The survey results were based on the interview of residents The survey was weighted to repre sent each municipality residents are aware of how waste is being managed by the Region but they tended to overestimate the role played by recycling landfill and incinera tion said the report Almost per cent of those surveyed said they knew the Region was looking for an option to landfill People interviewed said they would consider the wetdry option of recycling where wet waste from dry waste such as packag ing Wet waste would be used for composting Onethird of those surveyed said they would likely consider this program if offered by Halton Region bringing the total up to 80percent support for the wetdry program Six of 10 residents surveyed in Halton Region expressed concern about having an incinerator located somewhere in their com munity More Halton Hills residents were concerned about in creased truck traffic health ef fects odors and loss of property value than in the three other municipalities All municipalities expressed concern- for air pollution danger in creased by an incinerator But per cent of the Halton peo ple surveyed said they would not stop recycling if incineration was available Halton Hills residents surveyed led the percentage in asking for general information Those in Oakville and Milton were concern ed about where facilities would be located Milton residents also re quested environmental and health information about waste manage ment- such as food scraps is separated The Regional survey report says Only 10 days to go GDHS
