soft- ball play on June While the three pitchers were tagged for several hits in the offen sive game Pyke helped her own cause by booming a homerun herself But fine hitting by Campbell Allison Hajer Melissa made the dif ference for Hornby Kate Rowland Sara Robertson and Perdue had other Glen hits while Ashley Mpnekton and Amanda Engles were cited for their defensive prowess The Glen girls managed to turn the tables on Hornby the next night however as a return visit ended in a 14n win for s In atom girls play prior to June the Glen suffered a 197 poun ding from Acton with Melissa Goy Ashley Monckton and Kristen Boyle hitting well for J Vs as Jen nifer Conway and Nicole supplied some good defence Anne Beaver Lisa and Crystal pitched for the Glen The girls entered the month of June after finishing off May with a big 117 home win over Omagh May Beaver and teamed up on the mound with Kara Edwards and Jennifer Robertson supplying some stellar plays on defence Mands and Kristen MacDonald came up with some timely hits for the Glen GLEN ROUNDUP On June the Glen Brothers squirt boys team fell in Cheltenham as Paul Geloks was the highlight of the visitors game Greg Norton had a triple and some good glove work came from Dan Beaument Gary McNiven and David Leslie in the field On June Glen Bantam boys hosted andqueaked out a 32 win in a pitchers duel Jeff pitched well for the winners after toughing out a rough first inning Christian Hayes was steady in the outfield with virtually nothing getting by him Also on June 6 the Glen Brothers squirt girls whipped visiting 143 Sharon Kearsey pitched a good inning to start the game and kept going to finish with only three runs against Stacey Robertson made some good plays at first base and Kerry Infills had two On June the Georgetown Legion Glen boys hosted Acton but the visitors brought the bigger bats downing Jim Norton had four hits and a run for the Glen boys while Scott Alport was solid in the field Dan King gunned Raiders will be a team to be reckoned with next season The Raiders playing under the name The Tribe and featuring several rep players skated to the championship of the Rich mond Hill summer hockey tournament last weekend in Richmond Hill And the Tribe did it in style Down after one period the Peter Sturgeoncoached Tribe roared back to upset Niagara Falls a team that had beaten Georgetown earlier in the tournament round robin in overtime Raider Bryan Gendron drafted in the sixth round of the Ontario Hockey League priority draft by the 198889 league champion Peter borough Petes last month netted the winning tally in overtime The whole squad played well they were pretty impressive said Sturgeon The Raider mentor cited a strong defence including recent OHL first round draft picks Trent Cull and Rod Pasma and Raiders Rob Doucette and Kevin Burrows Kevin Brown younger brother of Raider winger Des Brown was a strong performer for the Tribe GEORGETOWN SWEAT TOPS with Shannon Storr also playing well up front GMHA products Bill McDonald Jim English Adam Hagen Trevor Elinesky and Ken were all cited by Sturgeon for their hard work The Tribe opened the tourney by dropping a decision to Niagara Falls After that they went on a tear edging Richmond Hill Dynes and whipping another Rich mond Hill entry 61 They defeated a North York outfit to gain en try into the tournament final where they avenged their opening loss Niagara Fails Meanwhile Sturgeon has not publicly declared whether he will indeed be back behind the Raider bench next season as head coach The former Boston Bruin action last week Don Parker led the Kentners scoring with two goats while Mark Taylor Ken Whit bread Vetro and Dale Every added one each Assisting on the goals were Geoff Parker 2 Ken Ron Huibers Hon Lefebvre Dale Avery and Ono Choice Air Smuggler goals were scored by John and Steve Christopher with Murray Larry Bingham and John drawing assists Midas Top Guns remained in third place only one point can all hopefully enjoy what this season has to offer Although bronzed bodies are not as in as they used to be I cant help but think that we all look better with some color than without so I guess I will be amongst those that do a lit tle work on my tan this year This column will mark the end of my originals for the summer mon ths as I take a little break over the hot months jUst to rejuvenate my mind gather new material for upcoming months and just give my brain a chance to concentrate on the world around me for a couple of months There is always so much going on during the hot months and usually real estate is very active This year I suspect we are going to see a different market than in previous years so it will be interesting to take notes on what is happening and give you a condensed version in September By the time my new columns start to be printed again the housing south of town should be on its way interest rates will pro bably have changed and the market in general I suspect will have picked up considerably During this summer I hope that you keep in mind that house buying is at one of its best for a long time Prices are excellent the selection is good and there are some homes out there that are offering excellent interest rates on a oneyear mortgage So if you are thinking of pur chasing this summer you should get out there and start browsing before the market changes again and then you will the good stuff Do a little shopping check out what is being offered and I think you will find that you are in for some nice surprises Georgetown and area still has some wonderful buys for you to take ad vantage of and our prices are a joke compared to Toronto area So with this in mind I nope you do find some homes that suit your fancy this summer and have
