THE HERALD Wednoday July 26 Taxpayers should be angry over land Pilutti says Actor Beck likes police roles Local developer says taxpayers should be angry about paying 2500 per dog on a town- owned six acre property near Hall Road The developer was responding to a recent letter written by Wilson Court homeowners Don and Linda Jackson The Jacksons asked the Town of Halton Hills to consider the need for green space in the town and to change a townowned property zoning from residential which allows single family dwell ings to a recreational zoning But the six or sevenacre proper ty near Hall Road is a garbage dump and a place where people regularly walk dogs and dont clean up after them Mr said With the money the town loses by not selling the land it would average to per dog he said If the council for the Town of Halton Hills is going to have to start buying up private lands abut ting residences so thai people can have the luxury of walking their dogs as it is in this case they will have all kinds of groups the future asking the town to buy pro perty Over years ago Mr sold the property to the town of Halton Hills for 135000 after residents took a militant stand against developing the site for housing The most recent offer by Mr Pilutti proposes buying the land for and using one acre as parkland Mr Jackson a resident with a property abutting the town land says the property is valuable to the town Its not as Mr in dicates three or four people walk ing their dogs Were ratepayers and as ratepayers were concerned about The battle taking place between the developer and the homeowners in the Wilson Court Drive and Drive areas has been lowkey so far says Mr Jackson This is the way residents are approaching the issue he said But Mr Pilutti says the issue should be on a high note I dont want it lowkey I want all the people of Hilts to know whats happening Instead of a Stability as it is now to the town and a danger to the children in the future because of the open drainage ditch that goes across the entire area the development of some houses in the area would be advantageous he said A population increase the area because of the construction of the condominiums at Hall Road means an increased danger to children who could drawn in the ditches on the property Mr said The property is not kept up by the town but has stray weeds and grass said Mr Children playing with matches could cause extensive damage he said Its just a piece of land with weeds it has no esthetic value Its unfair of people with such big lots the surrounding houses to demand an open area that is a liability to the town Halton Hills town council recent ly received a petition from residents who say they want the land retained The fight to keep the property from development over 10 years ago is taking place again against the same developer Were not painting Mr Pilutti as a monster of any kind Hes a businessman said Mr Jackson Im sure hes doing what is right for Mr Were not antidevelopment Mr Jackson said Were trying to show town council the value of the property to the community As residents were as capable as anyone else to at least judge the land use The Jacksons will appear as a delegation at a future council meeting to discuss the town- owned property Their recent let ter follows the petition to Halton Hills against the sale of land to Mr Fair Parade Calling all
