Escapee still at large An Oakville man police consider dangerous is still at large after a escape from a police escort van in the village of Carlisle Tues day morning Robert Adams was being transported from the Hamilton Detention Centre to the Milton Court House Police are currently in vestigating two possible sightings of Mr Adams One occurred short after the escape when he was reportedly picked up while hitchik and taken to the York Street and Street area of Hamilton The other occurred Wednesday when he was reported ly spotted without a beard the area of Highway in Cambridge going local store Police describe Mr Adams as white 59 with reddishbrown hair and 200 lbs He had a beard and was wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt at the time of the escape The man was shackled in hand cuffs and leg irons when he escaped Police say Mr Adams has a reputation of being able to escape from locked chains There were no police in the back of the van at the time of the escape police say Cartoon pulled from police magazine The quarterly Halton Regional Police magazine the Informer will be mailed out minus copies of an embarrassing cartoon drawn by Toronto Sun artist Donate Informer publisher Alex Chidley of Print Media Publishing Ltd in Kitchener said there were copies printed and ready to be mailed before the Regional Police Association pulled the plug on the Informer several weeks ago The cartoon on page of the magazine depicts an alien creature speaking with a police officer A person on the other end of the telephone with the officer is asking if the alien is unemployed in telligent and a visible minority The officer answers in the af firmative to all these questions and the voice on the other end of the phone says then hire him damn it Members of the police associa tion wanted the cartoon removed from the magazine We felt it could have caused some embar rass to the force and the police association said associa tion chairman Sgt Colin Vrooman an expansion to the 172acre Bible and Tract Socie ty property in Georgetown a socie ty spokesman said Monday The Claude Werden said there is clearly a whole lot of water right on the Wat chtower property for an expand ed residential and institutional area the town says would mean 578 more people The application to use the property for building a new administrative centre and more residences was approved by town council but Halton Region is still studying the water supply on the Watchtower site near Highway 7 and Trafalgar Road A bylaw was passed Monday night at town council The town continues to hold the application until a decision is reached on whether or not to connect the Wat chtower property to municipal water Town planner Ian Keith said Thursday that a late Regional study salary increases as early as next August the mayor would be paid less than some Ontario mayors of towns with a population similar to Halton Hills A report released by a special salary review committee
