gets underway on Aug 30 By BETTY Bailinafad Correspondent After playing five games with calm coolness tight defence and brilliant offence the Jim Dandies took first place in the A Division in the Georgetown tournament The first game played on Friday night against a Georgetown team ended with a score of 110 From then on seemed to be the magic number with the ladies winning the next two games with a score of and the fourth game was won with the score of The final championship game played at o clock on Sunday ended with the score 1410 The pit clung was consistently outstanding for all five games The pitching controlled the batters to only hit ting high pop or grounders in the infield for the majority This excellent pitching was recognized when both pitchers Sandra and Marion Lumbers won most valuable player award One award was given per team for each game Lisa Longstreet was voted most valuable player in the final cham game when she hit a home run which knocked in a total of three runs Prior to her hit the score was 87 for Bailinafad The Jim Dandies were feeling the pressure of such a close score With Lisa home run the Jim Dandies were able to continue the game with renewed confidence Vi vian Bremner had several home runs and triples to her credit dur all five games Martin and Carol Ann See were note for their defencive play and terrific hitting ability What really kept the team s spirits up m this final game was the ever cheering fans They were a constant source of faith in the team The Jim Dandies thanks them all for their support Needless to say coach Jim Bailey is on all time high His strategy of no and no sex during a tournament seems to have worked Special thanks to Doug for helping Jim with the coaching Both coaches are to be commended in their coaching skills The ladies return to their regular season play on Monday Aug 14 when they meet B B Brats Game starts at 6 m at M Bennett School in Acton A small number attended the Beach Party Dance at the Com munity Centre on Saturday Aug The deejay had a hard time keeping the party rolling The crownd numbering around peo ple did enjoy the luxury of an crowded dance floor The menu was thoroughly enjoyed As usual there was oodles to go around Low attendance was at tnbuted to competing dances on this evening as well as vaca The next dance in the village will be the Com Roast Dance in September Stay tuned
