span The band appeared on Canadian Exhibition Heritage stage Thursday night as part of the Ris ing Star 89 contest The is one of acts that moved through the preliminary rounds and moved into the second round The contest is the first step to moving from a garage band to a serious club act the members say We entered as much for the ex penence as the exposure Nightfall is Dave Haffey lead and rhythm guitar Mike Whaling also lead and rhythm guitar Trevor Kemp bass guitar Greg Hagan drums and Tim lead vocals All except for Greg who lives Acton are from Georgetown The group s music ranges from Boston to Guns and Roses However the members are plann ing to introduce some of their We just completed working on our first single entitled I Want it Back which they describe as a melodic rock piece with a pick up ending The com position is a group effort members say The group has appeared publicly twice before the Rising Star contest Both appearances were benefits in support of Georgetown dinner on day night in the branch auditorium On this occasion a scroll was read from the prime minister the Honourable to Branch and Post jointly congratulating them on developing and maintaining such friendly relations over so many years On this occasion a most unusual gift was presented to the branch by our visitors a picture of the bar at Plymouth with the stars and stripes and the maple leaf in the foreground flying in the breeze generated by a tiny electric fan This was most warmly received by Branch president Hank Russell on behalf of the members On Warriors Day for the first Post marched
