lives in Brampton replaced Star last Wednesday assuming the respon sibility of overseeing the centres two programs the Teen Dropin Centre and the Young Parents pro gram The Teen Dropin Centre is open to all Georgetown and area teens looking for counselling or an alter native way to meet others their own age It operates Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 30 Vanessa BellSmith recentl took from Star as the executive director of Georgetown s Open Door Centre Ms Smith who halls from New Brunswick sas she is looking forward to the new challenges that await her Herald photo Fall fair will be alive with excitement Thursdays from nam to 30 p and from 10 a m to 30 pm out of St Georges Anglican Church on Guelph Street beside Georgetown District High School The Young Parents program is aimed at young mothers between the age of 16 and 21 and provides support and counselling in child care It also a place where young mothers can meet each other The program is run out of St An drew s United Church on Moun tainview Road and runs Mondays from to 3 m and Tuesdays from 30pmto730pm Before taking over the job Ms BellSmith was a counsellor at Foyer le in New Brunswick There she worked with young offenders and abused children She also worked in local detoxication centres and schools while living in New Brunswick Of her new position Ms Bell Smith says love working with teens I relate well to them I want to help realize their dreams goals and ambition Ms BellSmith plans to involve the teens and young mothers as much as possible in the running of the programs It a good way of building their
