visiting Blades with a con vmung win in a Central Ontario Junior B Hockey League exhibi game played before an estimated fans Saturday night at Gordon Alcott Memorial Arena Saturday s game was the first exhibition contest for both clubs and opposing coaches Peter Sturgeon and Ken Moodie natural ly viewed the game from different perspectives Oakvilles Moodie termed the game sloppy but typical for exhibition play while the Raiders mentor Sturgeon was very pleased with our overall team effort Sturgeon on to say Our guys came to play hockey The young guvs showed intensity and the older players showed leader ship which s what you want OakviUe made a game of it through minutes but faded over the final two periods of play mainly because of unsteady goaltendin Blades coach Moodie wasn about to lay the blame on the however as both Chris Louisa and Jesse Robertson were getting their first taste of Junior B action Over the course of the game Georgetown 40 25 proof positive that activity moved up a notch on the intensity scale Friday evening at Gordon Memorial Arena with the staging of an game The entertaining lively affair saw the White team edge the Blue team 7 The Whites scored two goals in the final 30 seconds the last goal into an empty net to seal the win Rich Bond and Steve Henderson each scored twice for the Whites with Bond adding an assist Single markers went to Rob Wilson Tim McDonald and Jason Lucas Lucas had two assists with McDonald picking up a single assist Jeff Shevalier paced the Blues attack by notching a hat trick Single counters were scored by mngs Derek finished up Game four saw Georgetown play Bolton once again and Georgetown came through with a 105 win Chris Barrow a single and Derek single led the Georgetown hitters with Greg Dobbin one Joe Beaver one Brent Couling three and David Vanderbvl and Tro Gradmer with one each Steve Wright had a strong game behind the plate also helped out with a hit as did Warn Povntz Chris Barrow went the distance recording 12 KOs This win sent Georgetown to the final against One inning decided this game as Georgetown gave up six runs in the fourth inning and losl the game Adam Poyntz pitched a strong game for Georgetown Steve Wright led the hitting with a double and single as did Adam Ryan Pells chipped in with a dou ble and Couling had single and Greg Dobbin had two jingles and a walk The entire League suffered a head in an industrial just over three years A 20foot tumble off an order picker left him in a paralytic coma with doctors fearing for his life At the time of his accident he was the leading scorer in the Georgetown Mens Flag Football League Bruno beat the odds survived the lifethreatening injury and at tempted to pick up the pieces of his shattered life Physically and mentally Bruno estimates he is about per cent of what he used to be but this has not deterred him from his lifelong love of sports Representing the Mind Coop a social therapeutic group Bruno won five gold medals in the Vancouverbased National Games for the Disabled in the Cerebral Palsy Class 8 division Previously at the Ontario Games for the Physically Disabled held in August Bruno won four gold
