drove their Black Machines to Orangeville for their first tournament of the year Georgetown met Toronto East End for their first game Toronto came out strong to score early in the first period Markham pulled out his secret plays hes been work ing on when defence Tiger Jeff Telford whipped one by East Ends goalie from the blueline giving Moose and Richardson the assists Dandy Dave Markham played an excellent game shifting gears often to do some nice ing Speedster Robert McCloud played his game of the season showing lots of and making some nice passes McCloud picked up a nice pass from who had been set up by Tiger Telford and jammed it in East Ends net Mighty Mike Krause fired Georgetowns third goal home giv ing credit to teammates Ace and Eager Beaver Ryan Smith for the assists Maddog Mike Maddill proved you cant count him out even when hes been knocked down when Robert Mc Cloud spun the puck out front of East Ends net poked it in while sitting in front of the net scored Georgetowns final goal with Grizzly Jeff Barr Ace assisting In net for Georgetown was Joey Barber who made some great saves Georgetown won 53 Later that day Georgetown met another strong team the Toronto who had beat their last op ponents This was to be a tough game the winners to go on to play for the tournament championship With a man off in the penalty pitstop Ace LaRose hustled into the Toros end to fire rubber at their goalie when the goalie cleared the puck quick thinking LaRose picked it up and flipped it in over the goalies shoulder Tiger Jeff Telford and Moose Jeoy Goodhew had a tough time guarding the blueline but proved when you push them around they get tougher Speedster Robert Mc took a nice pass from Grizzly Jeff Barr and turned the scoreboard to 20 Eager Beaver Ryan Smith and Grizzly Jeff Ban- set Toros players into tailspins at the blueline a few times Daring Dave Markham and Mighty Mike Krause were sent fly ing more than once when they created action in front of the Toros net Mike Maddill jamm ed Richardsons re bound past the goalie to make the score 30 for Georgetown Joey Barber earned the shutout for Georgetown when he was tested he came to make some nice glove saves Our second goalie Chris Hall and Dan Cabral out with a flat tire cheered team mates on from the bench Sunday the Black Machines drove back to Orangeville for the championship game against strong Richmond Hill who had won their last game 120 To start the day off in the right lane the Beaver Lumbers Black Machines had a team picture taken with the real Stanley Cup each hop ing some day the Black Machines name would be added on it After a quick spot check the Machines hit the ice this was to be a tough game Joey Barber was in net for Georgetown and he guarded the net like gold Allan Bester haw seep his double hat day Ace Robert and Bird- man Judd Richardson were revved up and banging on Richmond Hills door throughout the game but their goalie was tough Maddog Mike Maddill and Mighty Mike Krause did some nice digging and created action up front Demolition Dave Markham took a lot of bang- when he tried to stand his ground in front of Richmond Hills net to get a shot Speedster Robert McCloud went for a drive a few times but couldnt their goalie Defence Grizzly Jeff Barr and Eager Beaver Ryan Smith went up a few roadblocks and fishtailed a number of Richmond Hill players ruining their scoring chances The gruesome twosome Tiger Jeff Telford and Moose Joey sent a few players back to their own end with motor pro blems Joey Goodhew threw it into high gear a couple of times to stall Richmond Hill just in the nick of time With just two minutes to play Richmond broke the tie when they slipped one into our net to score It was a great game and the coaches as well as parents could be proud of their Black Machines who fought to the end against some very large hockey teams Chris Hall our second goalie showed great sportsmanship as he cheered his teammates on Beaver Lumbers Black Machines are back on home ice tuning up for their next roadtnp who knows some day it may be Maple Leaf Gardens Dave Krause your hair looks great TEAM ROSTER Goalie Chris Hall Stretch Robert Speedster earned his name for his speed Winger Mike Krause Mighty earned his name because he always lets you know he is there and tries his best Winger Mike earned his name for his digging along the boards and in front of the net Winger Richardson Bird- man earned his name for the rushes he makes and swoops he takes at the opponents net Winger Dave Markham Demolition got his name for the digging along the board and job he does clearing the net Defence Ryan Smith Eager Beaver is always and puts out his best effort Defence Jeff Barr Grizzly has a wicked shot from the andplaystough Defence Jeff Telford Tiger earned his name for taking care of the man in front and guarding the Winger Dan Cabral Mini Model got his name for being one of our smaller players but having lots of Defence Joey Goodhew Moose hell stand up to anyone at the blueline and stalks down a lot of breakaways Our coaches are Brian Markham Bob McCloud Paul and Dave Krause They work longsouped up Black Hockey League West Division standings following their most recent outings Last weekend Raiders dropped two games to Streetsville and 74 to Brampton Capitals both road games and their 112 record leaves them mired in the leagues Division cellar The Raiders lone win of the regular season was over new league and West Division en try Peterborough Roster changes over the past two weeks have not made things any easier for the players as ad justments both on the ice and in the dressing room take time and patience to firmly take hold Raiders had a game scheduled in against the Blades evening at press time the score was not available Tonight Saturday Raiders play host to divisionleading Streetsville Derbys game time 730 at Gordon Alcott Memorial Arena Chances are the Derbys will not be in an
