couple of ex cellent practices and are looking forward to resuming league play said Sturgeon Raiders had a week off from league play when the team took part in the 12th Annual Pepsi Junior Classic hockey tournament staged at Weston Lions Arena in Toronto Raiders dropped all three of their tournament games but the affair was described as a learn ing experience by Sturgeon Friday night Raiders seconds remaining our boys travelled to Chinguacousy for a rare Monday night contest Georgetown was easily the domi nant team in this but thanks to some great goaltending by the Ching we had to settle for a tie Three minutes into the first period Michael Crawford found Shane Thompson at the left point and his long shot bounced off the right goalpost Trevor Rich buried the rebound to give the good guys a 10 lead The first period ended without another goal but Ching wasted- no time in getting on the scoreboard in the opening- minute of the second With just over three minutes left in the second period Ching took the lead on a play which everyone in the building including the Ching supporters agreed was five feet of fside It would have been a shame if that goal had stood up as the win ner but Brad Kouyoumjian and Curtis had other ideas Just 15 seconds after the disputed goal Brad carried the puck down the left side and went around both the winger and the defenceman before unleashing a wicked shot at the Ching net The goaltender made the save but Curtis was there for the re bound In the third period Kouyoum jian Davidson Thompson two goalposts and Brown open net all had glorious
