Heaton Alf Spence and Cook Seniors Advisory Committee Chairman He was also pleased to see Margaret for Library on Wheels Jeff from Parks and Recreation and Jack Dyce Director of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario After Secretary Mabel read the minutes Mayor Miller arrived to address the group Mayor Miller spoke of the Acton Senior Citizens tions in the Acton Community Cen tre project In Georgetown the twinning of the Gordon Alcott Cen some years down the line could include similar provisions for Georgetown seniors Question about the possibility of the Georgetown and Distnct Seniors Association using the vacant James Street building in the in terim the Mayor said that the council is open to proposals Treasurer Grant Greenaway presented a financial report and stressed the importance of gaining a large membership to demonstrate seniors demands Volunteers are needed to seek new Town reviews policy on hiring consultants Halton Hills town staff will review the town policy on hiring outside consultants Georgetown Councillor Pat Mc Carthy requested a report Monday night that would outline how the town approaches hiring con sultants a process some say is a hefty expense Although several councillors disagreed with the need to form a policy on hiring consultants Ward Councillor Joe Hewitt said there have been no consultant based studies in the last four years other than projects prompted by the pro vincial government think the policy goes by each individual item and the merits of that item Hewitt said Georgetown Coun Cook said town staff is busy enough without adding a report on hiring con sultants Staff have a lot on their plate already I would just hate to add another report members by canvassing The president then thanked the Membership Committee for their work on the ongoing membership drive Already over 600 seniors have joined the association He welcomed the inclusion of pre seniors on the committee and pointed out that all citizens will en joy future facilities eventuallv and can help establish them Committee Chair man Siena Van Hoekelen spoke of plans for another dinner in February and a future Kiwanis sponsored Duck Race A telephone
