application by a local group to use the Acton quarry site in Limehouse for landfill is in the final stages of provincial approval and could appear before an en vironmental assessment board b late summer or early fall Provincial ministry of the en planner Tim Sharp said Monday he is preparing comments from outside agencies on a pro posal from Reclamation Systems Inc to use the Acton quarry at Sideroad 22 and Fourth Line as a landfill site Mr Sharp said that in January he will begin drafting a report that will go to environment minister James Bradley likely in March Mr Bradley can then choose to approve the application without an environmental assessment hear ing but there is a very high pro that the application will go to the board Mr Sharp said The quick approval is usually given to small or non controversial requests The Acton quarry ap plication is different because this is the first time for a private sector landfill proposal to go through the environmental assessment pro cess Mr Sharp said After the minister reviews the application from RSI he must give a minimum 30 days for outside agencies to respond Wham meets Meetings of Women of Halton Action Movement WHAM are this summer by Halton s health department showed that geese in the lake are not a major source of pollution Certainly I prefer shipping to addling But I m not sure how this is done It might be a very scary process to a lot of geese Acton Coun Gerald Rennie said Acton Coun Norm Elliott said he does not want the town parks and recreation staff to be the ones to addle eggs if that becomes necessary I don think we have people in our recreation department who want to approach the nest of Canada Geese and shake the eggs Elliott said Councillors suggested the Canada Wildlife representative should meet
