to the ministry of the environment that says the five- region Greater Toronto Area in itiative on landfill is undemocratic and unaccoun table to the people tight of the town councillors Spoke against parts of the POWER proclamation that said the GTA is unnecessary and that the pro vince is using the landfill crisis as a pretext to speed up the process of studying sites approved for land fill Halton will be the first region in Ontario and one of the first in Canada to introduce public recycl ing bins called igloos Regional Chairman Peter Pomeroy an nounced The blue boxes will be distributed in such public places as parks arenas shopping centres and GO stations The igloos appeared in Halton Hills at the Georgetown and Acton Fall Fairs this month The programs estimated cost
