playoff game against Fergus in Acton Arena scoring a hat trick to help the team win English seemed to provide the spark Sabres needed after losing their opening game of the best of seven series Tuesday night at Fergus English also notched two assists in Wednesdays game Sabres looked to be in danger of repeating their first nights result early in the second game when Fergus scored on the powerplay halfway through the opening period However Jeff always a scoring threat came through two minutes later to tie it up Sabres took the lead shortly after when Jason Lucas scored on the assisted by John Van Dam and English Twenty seconds later English scored his first of three assisted by Lucas and Paul Fergus got their second goal of the game with just over a minute to play in the second period but Jamie Quran restored the five goal lead 29 seconds into the final period assisted by Shevalier and Mark Adam Hilts notched the eighth Sabre goal at 615 stealing the rebound practically from Georgetown Raiders lost their rematch against Streetsville Tuesday night by a count after edging the Derbys on Feb The game was a big penalty night for both teams with Raiders earning visits to the box compared with for the home side Raiders stayed relatively close in the early going though they trailed after the first seconds of the game Streetsvilles Randy Murphy and Scott Davidson haunted Raiders with Murphy notching four goals and Davidson hat trick After Murphy got two within the first three minutes of play Scott Humber combined with Adam Hagen and Charlie Humber to draw to 21 the final frame for the victory Rebels are likely to meet either MM Robinson or Nelson in the preliminary playoff round next week Rebels senior basketball squad were defeated by Milton on Monday but were hoping a win over EC Wednesday would carry them into the final playoff spot However Rebels dropped a close one 5857 to the visitors eliminating the team from post season play Results from the junior games were unavailable but the team is out of playoff con tention As of press time both junior and senior volleyball teams had records having won both of their games this week Juniors defeated Milton 20 on Monday and EC Drury 20 as well The team could have first wrapped up if MM Robinson 71 as of Feb 1 lost to either Acton or Nelson If there is a tie a deciding match will be played Wednesday but a location hasnt been chosen yet Senior Rebels be in the same position beaten EC Drury 20 on Wednesday Georgetown has a record and would be in first if Bishop Reding lost either to Milton or Acton Midget volleyball concludes Tuesday with the North Halton championship tournament at Ac ton High School An Drury midget basketball player finds himself under some pressure during his teams game against Georgetown Rebels at GDHS on Wednesday Rebels won to take the last playoff spot In the Richardson division Herald photo Tourney helps Easter Seals Georgetown Major Novices are helping raise money for Easter Seals by selling tickets on behalf of the 36th Annual Timmy Tyke Tournament in North York on March 2 The team is hoping for a good response from the community since the four teams which sell the most tickets will also have the opportunity to play in Maple Leaf Gardens There will be teams from across Ontario participating in this event If Georgetown is successful in their division they will advance and play in Maple Leaf Gardens Bridge Club Georgetowns Duplicate Bridge Clubs top winners this week were Cora and Mike Lorusso The club which meets Mondays at the Legion to play saw Rene March and Nor ma Maynard finish in second while Jack Kaarsemaker and George Sargent placed third Municipal Awards Hills Recreation and Parks Department is asking all those who received invitations lo the Municipal Awards Even ing on Feb to call them to in dicate whether you will be at tending or not There are a limited number of seats available and people who do not call to
