at Memorial Arena in the first game of the Tri County Playoffs The series will see Georgetown play six games in a round robin format with Brampton boro Oakville and Chinguacousy providing the opposition The first period was highlighted by Ryan goal at the 733 mark assisted by Trevor Cash Jay Campbell forc ed the Brampton to make a good stop at the mark Scott Ellis made the score 20 for Georgetown converting a pass out from behind the net by Matt Hotham Tyler played solid goal to bring the period to an end Brampton on a deflected shot from behind the Georgetown net off Ryan Carter made a blocker save to bring to period to a close 21 in Georgetowns favor Matt Hotham gave Georgetown a 31 lead at the 842 mark with a goal from behind the net Bramp ton scored an open net goal at the Centennial Center March Lumbermen won the first game against Black Hawks After a scoreless first period Trevor Cash broke the ice for the Lumbermen with an unassisted goal right off the at the mark of the se cond period Dan Smith added the second goal at the mark with a Up in at the crease on a rebound from Brent shot Ryan Bobor closed out the scor ing at the 523 mark of the second period with an end to end rush that culminated a backhand shot which found the mark The second game saw the Lumbermen fall to defeat to the Scarborough Malvern Mothers pizza team and were eliminated from the tourney 609225 Christina will also be representing Georgetown Bowl at the Singles competition at Brampton Bowl The Georgetown Senior Boys Four Steps to Stardom team will be progressing to the Provincial Round March 17 in Toronto They beat out their closest competi tion Bowl The girls came up short in the Zone rounds but had fun and out- cheered all the rest The ladies will be travelling to Toronto cheer on the men as they move to the Provincials Halton Hills gymnastics The Hills Gymnastics Club helds its 2nd annual competition on Sun Feb 24th which included gym nasts from the Recreational and HI Atom House League the regular season with wins and two ties to amass 30 of a possible points The team also won three straight games in the House League tournament in January During the course of the season scored times while giving up only goals in 16 Head coach Scott Van Valks team emphasized effec tive defense with quick transi tions to a potent attack was supported by two strong goalies Dylan Le and Mark who were also ef fective when playing out blocked countless opposition rushes on defense while Lee con tributed points in the six games he played as a forward While the effi ciently smothered opposition at tacks they also set up numerous goals from the point Offensively Hortons were led by Josh Malinosky a big centre with the ability to dominate a game led the league in scoring with 30 goals and assists for points Wingers John Howell with 10 goals and 17 assists and Freddy with 9 goals and assists were also big offensive threats The other forwards Andrew Boyce Bryan Foster and Peter were also dangerous For five of the players on the team Howell Deeley Noonan and Lee the undefeated season was par ticularly sweet as they played together on last seasons Youngs Pharmacy Novice team also coached by Van De Valk which also went undefeated for the season and then the playoffs For goalie Lee this makes three seasons in a row without a loss since he played for the Novice champion M and M Pro Sports in 8889 Having played behind three excellent defensive teams he now has a career record of 39 wins 5 ties losses and 15 shutouts Much of the reason for success is credited to a hard working group of young coaches Van De Valk Bob Craig Lahey and Jim English whose enthusiasm for hockey and commitment to games and numerous practices has helped develop the team hopes to
