restaurant K and J Dines Cafe at Tottenham Mike is working as a restaurant manager Mike is the son of Gord and Marlene Dine formerly of Georgetown and now of Ken and Kelly is the daughter of Howard and Lucy Annual show Huttonville Lions Club Annual Craft and Antique Show and Sale will be held on Saturday and Sun day m to 5 p m at the Hut tonville Community School Special meeting By BETTY SOJKA Last weeks meeting was very special The group hosted their parents and members of the Women Institute to a dinner All in alt there were about people who sat down for the love ly buffet that included such dishes as curried chicken spaghetti and a wide assortment of salads This meal had been carefully planned with each member bringing an item from either the main course or dessert groups After tidying up the dishes the group participated In a wonderful exercise used as an icebreaker Each person teamed up with a partner that they really did not know They exchanged informa tion about each other Then everyone came together to form a group where they recited what they had learned about their respective partner It was a wonderful way to make everyone comfortable with each other Prom here the meeting started Alma McLean reading from the History Book spoke on the history of Ballinafad which was really very in formative Other Women In stitute members also gave input by telling of early settler life and what it was like for farmers in the area members in their regular meetings have been stu dying local history and have been working on crafts such as bead bracelets and bookmarks and weaving bookmarks The group meets every Monday as part of this Club session titled Our Heritage Their Achievement Day when all the clubs in the District get together will be held in April This week we have the Hall Board and the Womens Institute meeting Polks are reminded to keep Thursday April open for a night of Euchre as well as Saturday April 27th for the Hall Boards Hard Times Dance Good Friday service Rev Mary Campbell of Norval and Union Presbyterian Chur ches gave a warm welcome and introduction to neighboring chur ches including Home Hut tonville and United to the Good Friday worship service at 7 30 p m Worshippers were asked to follow their pro grams as there would be no fur ther introductions A Good Friday prayer was read by Beth followed by the Stripping of the Sanctuary that was taken by the elders of the church ffaunt flowers the flag etc outside where they laid all at the foot of the cross The service followed the Good Friday theme of the Words in the Temple to the Words at the Burial The story was told in the form of readings choir numbers solos duets quartets and hymns Rev Walter Beecham gave two readings Reflections in the Garden and Mather Behold Your Son Others taking part were Bob Carney Bob Clark Lyons Caroline Harding Heather Anne Thompson Karen Carney and Judy Pomeroy Several solos were given by Bruce McAnsh of Newmarket the last number The Old Rugged Cross Following the number the choir led the congregation outside to the cross in the church yard The hymn When I Survey the Wondrous Cross was sang by all as the cross was being draped in black Assisting in the draping were John Henderson and his son Christopher and Mrs Rita Wilson and her daughter Maren Everyone departed for home as suggested by the Rev Mary to meditate on the beautiful but meaningful service Easter Sunday service Norval United Church Easter service was conducted by the Rev Walter Beecham at 11 IS Following the childrens story time the Hebrew Scriptures
