prevented from escaping from the landfill and entering the water flowing under the dump Leachate is a poisonous liquid formed when rain water per colates through waste in a dump The report indicates that without engineering work done on the site there would be significant accumulations of leachate in the water supply between the propos ed landfill and the Niagara Escarpment on which the Acton quarry is located As well the contaminated groundwater would flow to Black Creek a tributary of the Credit River The end result being that no engineer ing work on the site would mean significant
