new Business Names Act pro claimed today includes com panies in the previouslyexempt service industry Past- laws regulating business names applied only to those in manufacturing trade or mining Businesses such as consultants hairdressers and building con tractors were not required to register But under the new act they must register their business names by November 30 1991 with the Companies Branch of tr Ministry of Consumer and Com mercial Relations The new act also applies to business names used by corporations This new legislation will bet ter protect consumers and businesses in Ontario said Con sumer and Commercial Rela tions Minister Marilyn Churiey They will have easier access to information about businesses with which they deal This type of information is particularly im
