Time a valuable commodity in a busy schedule Alright time to get something off my chest that has been ing me for longer than I d care to remember 1 11 try to make this as clear as possible to avoid hur ting some people feelings First as any reporter will tell you time is a valuable that is always in short supply As the sports editor for a com that is as active in athletics as Halton Hills there is far more going on than one per son can possibly get to on any given day In the spring there is baseball starting bowling finishing up high school rugby soccer soft ball track and field mens and ladies flag football gymnastics and on and on and on All covered by guess who Now I m not complaining Au I overjoyed there is such an abundance of activity since it gives the sports section such variety for the readers It s the time that is often wasted that troubles those of us in the media We are intensely aware that there is nothing more important in a parent life than their children And whatever sport the apple of their eye is in that is what they see as the world s most fascinating activity I encourage coaches and parents to continue to let the Herald know when there is a good Risky Business by picture opportunity since thats what a community newspaper is for However please remember to let us know the proper time you re going to be ready I mean really ready to have that picture taken There are many other groups with this community s most important event and only so much time to get to them Raves and Raspberries The first rave is for my landlord who must have read my mind knowing I was going to complain about the apartment leaky pipes before this column hit the streets last Wednesday Sure enough that very morning not only did the faucets get fixes a new sink is on the way If it arrive shortly a raspberry will be forthcoming Raves go out to Minnesota North Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins for making it to the Stanley Cup final Not many peo ple thought they could do it However I m certain the bookies are paying off some shrewd customers big time Raves to Acton Redmen soft ball team which at last look was sporting a record ries for the way they allowed Pearson to get ahead of them on May but raves for coming back for the win Make that half a raspberry for their efforts and a full crate of it for the six players who decided not to show up for the game The team is the only one going for the school since rugby folded more raspberries at the start of the season 33 Rebels racers reach Summer supervisors The Hills recreation departments summer recreation programme
