Wednesday June 5 1991 Page Council Briefs Town councillors recommend approval of golf course Halton Hills General Commit tee recommended Monday the Niagara Escarpment NEC approve construe tion of an 18hoIe golf course and equestrian centre on a piece of property located on the east side of Highway and south of Sideroad Committee s recommendation will go before Town Council this Monday for final approval General Committee is comprised of Town councillor Last September Council defer red commenting on the golf course proposal until it had more information about the amount of water the course would use Representatives from the golf course s developers Eagle Ridge told General Committee Monday per cent of the needed water will be taken from three man made ponds Ground water will only be used as a supplemen tary source Committee members were told that assuming NEC approval is given for the golf course relative soon preliminary work on the course will start this fall The course is scheduled to be finished by Mr Austin t predict when development would be sufficient to justify the Environmental Study Report being done Road widening should be shelved Hills Engineer Bob Austin told Town councillors Monday the slow down in development along Mam Street South between Mapk Avenue and Sideroad in Georgetown means plans to reconstruct area of Main Street South should be shelved for the time being Earlier this year many Main Street South residents balked at the idea of widening the road when a preliminary design for the road widening was unveiled by Town staff At that time staff had told councillors it was about to start an Environmental Study Report on the possi impact the preferred road reconstruction design would have on the ding environment However in Monday staff report Mr Austin sTid the need for reconstruction of Main Street South between Maple Avenue and Sideroao due to develop ment pressures is not an ticipated in the next three ears Rather than write the Environmental Study Report now it will be prepared at a more propnate time depending on the progress of develop ment in Georgetown South Parade proposed Get ready because here comes a parade Town
