NHADH holds annual meeting THE WEEKEND OUTLOOK Friday June The North Halton Association for the Han dicapped held its annual meeting Tuesday evening at the John Elliott Theatre Gallery the Cultural Centre in Georgetown The associations challenging yet successful 199091 year was recapped in detail Included on the agenda were staff service awards for the 199091 year Presented with staff five year service awards were Karen Dinelle Debbie Mane Elliot Ian Huffman Mike Jenn ings Dorothy and Pat Row Andy and Etta Mills were honored with staff year service awards had an extremely suc cessful year Among its highlights were success in special event endeavors such as the Fashion Show held last fall the Shop Til You Drop Lottery and the month Bingo held at Bingo Country in Milton as well as a per cent in crease in membership Also during the past year seven service clubscommunity groups viewed the associations video through formal and active representation was gained at United Ways and Community Malls through education displays in Milton and Halton Hills There has also been increased media response and coverage for NHADH was faced with a great challenge in the finance area for fiscal year 1991 With a net deficit of 103216 for fiscal the largest in the associations history it was imperative that a major overhaul in fiscal policy and procedures be made Team effort and commitment to com mon financial goals resulted in the deficit dropping from 119405 to for fiscal 1991 and the overall net deficit dropping from last years to 4255 Factors contributing to this im provement include increased suc cess in fundraising and public relations efforts program budget negotiations with super visors at the Ministry of Com and Social Services and the establishment of a fiscal ac countability policy within the association NHADH members are confident this success will continue into the fiscal year The associations goals for 199192 include the re- establishment of a members aux iliary the organization and im of a community sponsored BikeAThon and a 36- year reunion will con tinue their efforts to expand and increase membership and to sponsor Bingo DONATIONS SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDS During the past fiscal year Apnl 1990 to March 31st NHADH was fortunate to receive donations from many sources These funds were applied to operating expenditures or capital projects as required and made up about 2 per cent of total revenue Corporate Sponsors and over Microsoft Canada Maple Lodge Farms DRG Sta tionary Individual Sponsors and over Joseph William A Miller Lodge Farms AWish of Halton Hills Georgetown Globe Productions Kiwanis Club of Georgetown Community Services Awards United Way of Milton United Way of Halton Hills Evening Star Rebekah Lodge No 79 Park Public School Optimist Club of Georgetown Don Smith Samko Sales Life Membership Status Dave and Gerry Osborne Ron Turner TV show Halton Peel MP Garth Turner will be holding more Town Hall meetings next week giving people an opportunity to comment on cur rent events and offer input on the issues now facing Canada Its a critically important time for people to come out and raise their voices Turner says We face a national unity crisis along with great skepticism about the political process itself I think its for everyone to get involved to build the kind of system and coiin try which we are all happy with The greatest enemy we face is apathy and so I invite every citizen and taxpayer to please get involved In Halton Hills Turner will again be hosting an electronic Town Hall meeting via Halton Cable Systems The live program will allow cable subscribers to directly participate in the program Also appearing will be Hills Herald Managing Editor Colin Gibson and a journalist
