Region over local business Country Lane located on the Tenth Lane north of Regional Road 23 in Georgetown Council approved Monday the company s owner David well be permitted to continue operating the video store part of his business Other parts of the business include a mini golf course and dnving range Town Council made its decision despite objections from Halton Regional staff Since the video staff position concerning the video store operation when Town Council s decision goes before Council for final approval then the Region could direct its staff to appeal the decision to the Ontario Municipal Board Town Planner Bruce told local councillors Monday In support of the operation Council approved an amendment to its Official Plan and the area zoning bylaw If the issue does end up before the OMB this tribunal will decide whethet the Town s Official Plan amendment does or t con form with the Regional Official Plan For Town Official Plan amend ments to stand they must be found in conformity with the Regional Official Plan Council followed the lead of Town Councillor Joe Hewitt in support of the continued opera of the video store Coun Hewitt said the operation is in a location that is in transition That means it s not clear what zoning the area should have he said Since the area is in a trans tional phase and the video store services a significant number of people in the area the business should be permitted to continue said Mr Hewitt Relying on the claim by Mr Tarzwell lawyer Steven Foster that if the video business was shut down the entire operation would collapse Hewitt said opposing the video store would benefit neither the owner nor the public Town Coun Cook was the on ly councillor to voice his Circus comes to town Entertainment and excitement will fill
