and other volunteers have been busy preparing- for the Annual Ac ton Fall Fair This years fair is scheduled for the weekend of September 13 14 and 15th at Actons picturesque Prospect Park The unofficial theme for this years fair is Educate and Entertain The Homecraft Divisions theme is Ewe and Your Fair When you tour the hal watch for all the ex hibits that pertain to sheep School children are encouraged to enter the special contest adver tised through area schools Category- A Picture of a sheep suitable for hanging Category B A free standing sheep made from wire paper rolls etc Competitions and are being lined up to ensure people of all ages will be able to have a most enjoyable time The directors hope that everyone will come out and get involved in the many competition or simply relax and meet their friends Among this years highlights are the various displays put on by the area school children in cluding arts and crafts photography and many other ex citing activities In addition peo ple have a chance to show off their prize livestock or crops garden vegetables or Moms For the younger crowd there are truck and tractor pulls pet shows petting zoos the Miss Acton contest and of course the midway with its thrilling and games of chance The Fair kicks off on Friday the with education taking the center stage School children- and seniors are admitted free from 1000 am 300 pm to view the numerous displays in the Community Center and on the fairgrounds On Friday night a special concert featuring the Guse Family will provide the musical entertainment with amusing interludes by the Clown On Saturday the Fair gets inln high gear starting with a parade The great outdoors beckons to visitors in the Hills Radial Railway Museum If visitors in Halton Hills want to see history come to life then the County Radial Railway Museum is just the place to visit The museum located on Line just outside of Rockwood takes visitors on a train ride into the bygone days of the electric railways Founded in 1963 the museum is sponsored by the Ontario Electric Railway Historical Association which is a nonprofit educational organiza tion The museum displays an assortment of streetcars radial cars and work cars dating back tothel920s The museum also boasts an ex tensive gift shop restoration cen tre theold Railway Station relocated from its original site and a car house For those people who wish to spend a little more time at the museum there is an outstanding milelong train ride through the museum grounds where lucky patrons board an antique railway train at an authentic turn-of-the- century train station The Radial Railway Museum is the perfect afternoon getaway for visitingfamiliesand friends through Town at noon The members of the Fair Board ex pectthat the many floats and bands will make this parade a memorable one Come out and see who can shear a sheep the fastest or who can shoe a horse with the greatest of ease Of course the Fair just wouldnt be the Fair if the food booths werent busy cwSking up a storm Sample the home cut fries or in dulge yourself with some good old fashioned candy floss For those so inclined the Spot in the Park beer tent will be serving cold beverages to quench the thirst of the age of majority crowd In keeping with the Homecraft Divisions theme of Ewe and Your Fair watch the amazing spectacle of dogs herding a flock of sheep Demonstrations will be at 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday In the evening a Teen Dance will be shaking the park from end to end Just when you think had enough excitement for one weekend dont forget the fair is open on Sunday az well Horse shows cattle shows remote car races truck pull and childrens pedal tractor pull are among the many events schedul ed Musical highlights on this day are focused on the Arena as various Gospel music groups sing the praises of the day At pm the Fair awards are presented to those lucky enough to have caught the eye of the judges So while youre working on your Cotta Conservation Area lets visitors camp in an out door environment while still be ing close to home The conserva tion area also allows visitors to go swimming fishing or even hik ing along the Bruce Trail To get to the Terra Cotta Conservation Area just follow Winston Chur chill Blvd two kilometers north of Terra Cotta The Kelso Conservation Area in Milton has an manmade reservoir and acres of recrea tional and natural lands Kelso of fers activities such as boat ren tals miniature golf fishing hik ing swimming and picnicking Kelso Conservation Area is open seven days a week and can be reached by following the 401 east towards Milton and exiting at Ap pleby Road Cultural Centre anniversary 1991 marks the 10year anniver sary of the Hills Cultural Centre and the John Elhott Theatre The centre was con structed in r981 to improve upon the services and facilities offered in the Halton Region The Cultural Centre includes the Georgetown Public Library an art gallery and the John
